    [IMG] Great thread!

Due to my CRS (Chronic Restarter Syndrome) I have more potential candidates for this honour than I can filter, so I'll probably have to name two. Which is easy enough to do, as I never have more than 4 party members anyway:

    Candidates the first:

PC: Riven (Elven FMT). Duties - Traps, locks & backstabs (+ other thieving). I've never been able to play either BG or its sequel without access to good thieving support. And an FMT is probably the best thieving support you can get, considering the additional access to weapon proficiencies and mage spells.

Minsc. Duties - meat shield & giant space hamster-related insanity.

Jaheira. Duties - Insect swarm + healing, with additional maternal whinging.

Aerie. Duties - Relentless spelldeath & emotionally blackmailing love interest.

    Candidates the second:

The Magpie (Human DC Fighter 7 > Thief x). Imported from BG, so started with Grandmastery in both Katanas and Shortbows. Could thieve like a kender, backstab like a bastard and shoot like Robin Hood.

    Minsc. See above.

Jaheira. As above, but with additional romantic interest.

Nalia. Sure, she's an annoying, spoilt, do-gooding princess. But she looks like a red-headed Drew Barrymore and casts Cloudkill. What more could you ask for?

Quite the evil party you have here. And wow, 3 fighters (that is, fighters that will continue to level). Your melee muscle must be impressive in the later stages of the game. 2 solid healers, and Anomen becomes a particularly good meleer as he gains levels. You've got theiving covered with the 8 levels of thief. Only 1 arcane caster, but a darn good one, if fragile.

After all my bazillions of playthroughs, to this day I've not played an evil party. So... who do you have in your party prior to Sarevok?

Heh, I usually create evil - aligned Charnames, so yeah. I repeat: for teh evulz.:D And my BG tactics are mostly military - oriented, aye.

It was pretty much a vacant post, with many changes. Could be Valygar. Could be Keldorn. That is, before they finally get tired of the murder and mayhem :D. Could be a character from a mod: Auren, Angelo, Kivan... Could be, actually, any fighter. Warriors and hamsters everywhere, rejoice!:D

My favorite BG2 party was Viconia, Aerie, Jan, Minsc, and Anoman

My protagonist was a half-elven sorcerer who specialized in katanas and pyromania (I can't remember why I was able to specialize in katanas, it must have been a side-effect of one of my mods?). I had originally been intending to play a wild mage, but I enjoy playing a sorcerer too much to play anything else, so after character creation I used shadowkeeper to replace two of her starting spells with Nahal's Reckless Dweomer and Chaos Sheild, making her a wild sorcerer :)

    PC - Sorceress Lilith
    Imoen
    Edwin
    Minsc
    Korgan
    Viconia

Mostly an evil party besides Minsc + Imoen, who I had to have around because I love them so. I loved doing *****y/evil things and getting Korgan / Viconia / Edwin to chuckle about it. Good party

Currently going through Throne of Bhaal with a Monk PC (unfortunately lost my Sorc PC file :( ) Sarevok, Edwin, Viconia, Korgan, and Imoen.

    Korgan
    Viconia
    Haer'Dalis -> Sarevok
    Jan
    Edwin

Pretty basic "I may be bad, but I feel soooooo good" party, loved that runthrough. No irritating NPCs (no, I dont find Jan annoying). Needless to say, no aligment changes in this one :)

For my all-time favorite, I took a few liberties with the classes.

    Me (Half-elf Ranger, dual-wielding longswords)
Jahiera (Ranger/Cleric, dual-wielding clubs, maces, flails)
    Keldorn (Inquisitor, two-handed swords)
Minsc (Barbarian, dual-wielding axes and hammers)
    Jan (Illusionist/Thief, crossbows, short swords)
    Viconia (Sorceress, slings and staves)

Human Barbarian- nigh-unkillable tank, melee damage dealer

Keldorn- because Inquisitors make the hardest fights into walks in the park.

Jahiera- summoner, healer, mage-disabler, back-up tank.

Jan Jansen- thief, comic relief, back-up mage

    Edwin- casting god

Imoen- cause the story and all

Barbarians are such fun to play. It can become almost completely immune from physical damage, and with the right items be highly resistant to elemental damage as well as mind-affecting spells.

Keldorn was the mage killer, casting a quick dispel before charname chunked all mages in a rage. Needs items to make him truly shine in combat, but worth it for his abilites.

Jahiera- I like the druid spells better than the cleric for the most part. Gave her belm for the extra attack, and two weapon fighting, she did quite well in combat. But her more important role was to ambush powerful parties. Casting glitterdust, and with the use of the cloak of non-detection as well as the spell, it was possible to set up fights perfectly. Here's how most scenarios played out:

Let the invisible, non-detectable people (including Keldorn) set themselves up behind a mage. Let a non-invisible summon appear within the group. Mages contingencies go up, Keldorn takes them right down. Barbarian rages, kills all with the help of casters.

For the harder fights where that wasn't possible, the Barbarian led the group, taking all the damage, while Keldorn and Jaheria worked on taking down the priests/mages and my own mages made good use of greater malision/disabling and area effect spells. Jaheria can make the front-liners completely immune to fire and cold damage, and when this happens you can spam delayed blast fireball, fire storm, cone of cold, etc. with impunity.

Quickly whacking through usual enemies and when something was too hard, I started to cast spells and then big things used to happen...

I really regretted that I didn't have place to add Sarevok (dualled to mage, of course).

Let's see... My party throughout SoA and ToB...

Titus Groan (Male Half-elf fighter, proficiency slots spent on long swords, hammers, dual-wielding, and I think bows, he wound up using Crom Faeyr. He dual-wielded it in ToB with the rune hammer+5 when he got it. Made a pure fighter due to need for a dedicated meat shield)

Minsc, later replaced by Sarevok. (Both were specced into two-handed swords and maces, with minsc using long bows and sarevok using crossbows. again, I didn't dual-class, since I wanted to keep two dedicated meat-shields), also replaced minsc with Valygar during the planar sphere quest.

Jaheira (druid magic kicks ass, plus she can wear any armor and serves as a decent backup fighter. I think I gave her the spectral brand scimitar and a blackblood club, along with the gorgon plate.)

Aerie (Romanced, grabbed her due to extreme versatility with her magic. She wound up using a belt of hill giant strength, the asylferund elven chainmail, and the flail of the ages+5) She was replaced with Keldorn toting the Holy Avenger when she was nabbed by Bodhi.

Yoshimo, later Imoen (was able to boost Imoen's trap-finding skills with some items, plus you just can't turn down an extra mage. She was geared up with Tansheron's Bow, among other things)

Nalia (Primary power-mage. She got the netheril circlet, the rings of wizardry, the robe of vecna, and the amulet of power. She was practically a magic machine gun, especially with improved alacrity on.)

In all, a fairly good party. up to three bodies for close combat, and three walking artillery pieces.

So far I'm having a lot of fun with my current party. I've never played a evil group..so it's been interesting. :)

    PC - Druid
    Korgan
    Viconia
    Jan
    Edwin
    Imoen

Very magic heavy obviously lol.. My idea is to send Korgan running in with loads of spells backing him up. If I need more tank power I just use some summon monsters/animals..and Vicky as a backup.

How can your party be evil if the PC's a druid...?

I ran this setup which covered all the bases (traps/locks, spells, tank, heals) and freed me to play as whatever I wanted, I honestly can't remember if I was a bard, sorcerer or specialist mage, or maybe even something else. The 6th spot remained open so that I could take other NPCs with me on their quests (more interesting this way), I romanced Viconia and from memory played as Chaotic Neutral, lots of fun party banter and good times. And you have that 6th spot wide open heading into ToB, in case you want to invite a certain old friend along, who also happens to fit this setup very well.

    Me
    Edwin
    Jan
    Korgan
    Viconia
