I've followed the main quest line with these guys, done the bracers for message swap and picked up the huge XP reward for solving things peacefully etc. Now Kruntur maybe something of a scumbag but he says he's had enough of the war and he's off home - so the way I play he's a lucky, i.e.still living, scumbag and unless he attacks me or threatens my mates I'd leave him in peace.

However this Yquog seems to me to be the kind of grade 1 scumbag on which justice needs to be dispensed - which I have just done. Now the reward for doing this is measly, just 1000-odd XP and no treasure, which tells me I've probably left the canonical plot line somewhat so I thought I'd check the consequences of this and from what I can gather doing so will turn Kruntur's clan hostile towards me.

Which seems kind of odd to me since Kruntur has no love for Yquog or his mysterious "masters". So why does he turn hostile?

And this means I can't dispense justice on Yqiog without killing all Kruntur's mob? Ok, I suppose there's some XL to be had from that, but it doesn't feel right to me. What do other people do with these guys?

I seem to remember that Yquog specifically tells you not to harm Kruntur, for mostly "political" reasons. That's why he's mad if you kill him. Apparently he believes that he'll have to ultimately answer for the death in some way.

You can scout the entire underwarrens for even more XP if you do it without killing anything, then you go back and kill them all!;)

If you don't kill Yquog then he turns up again later and is a bit tougher so you get more XP (IIRC).

Yeah, there will be an even better chance to dispense justice on him in the future, if you have the patience.

If not, and you decided to kill Yquog the 1st time, you might still see him appear for a moment in a room during the final chapter. He will then disappear, because the game's coding kicks in. I abused the targeting to (pretend to) talk with him and his minions, which keeps them from disappearing for another moment. It was a tricky balance between dialogue activation & ranged attacks, but I got to kill him another time!:D

One of the towers of the severed hand is the cleric's tower, where Yquog appears when you first enter in the bottom floor, worshiping Iyachtu Xvim.

Oh I see, that's why the game sort of suggests you leave sleeping scumbags lie for the time being - I knew there was something strange about it and I suppose I deserve to suffer the loss of the extra XP now for breaking my own rule of not killing anything you don't have to even if they are manifest scumbags.

I found out that it's only Yquog's fire trolls etc in the passage before Kruntur's cave that go hostile if you waste him/her/it, Kruntur, whilst not friendly, remains neutral - fortunately for him.

I descend on the game like a swarm of hungry locusts, devouring everything that might earn a speck of XP. Kruntur was out of luck.:D
The only justice, was that Yquog died twice!
