He lost a couple of ounces but that's to be expected. He needs to put on 500g and be at least 35 weeks (which will be in 2 weeks time) before he can come home :D

Hey guess what, I've seen a doctor and he prescribed me Quetiapine, an anti-depressant. So... yeah, I'm officially crazy.

@ Sil; he's a very cute baby, the waiting must be hard.

Depressed and crazy are two different things Flix. But lets give it a couple of weeks and see if you are posting about butterflies and fluffy clouds. Then we will know for sure if you are crazy :D.

Well I'm currently collecting butterfly wings in Skyrim so I can make health and stamina potions does that count ? I wonder what the other Skyrites, (Skyrians?) think when they see a grown man chasing butterflies while ignoring the big ass dragon killing everyone ?

Ofelix, anti-depressants are all the rage these days, everyone's doing them. So in a sense it's like dressing up to the latest fashion...

Joking aside, a really large number of people are on them, so if you discreetly ask around you might be surprised to learn that many people you know have been using them for years (and twice as many probably won't admit it). Unfortunately, the doctors today are more than happy to prescribe happy pills as a solution to most people's problems - which, in sense, they are. But the side effects and potential addiction are the devil in the details. So, basically, the sooner you can get off them, the better.

Don't rush yourself off them though. Let them do the work while you get on with making the positive changes you need to in order to get yourself sorted out :)

Yah I imagine the antidepressants are better than alcohol or non-legal drugs so you might as well give them a try, like Silvo says, and see if a happy frame of thought can net you some life changes. BTW, I liked chasing butterflies in Skyrim too - but dragons are still more fun.

I just got them today, I'm going to give them, and by extension my doctor, the benefit of the doubt and see if they do any good. I'm well aware of the potential danger in antidepressant I didn't took them lightly.

I'm on an antidepressant, but not for depression or any other mood issue. I have an imbalance of serotonin in my stomach of all things, and it makes me randomly have excruciating pain waves followed by vomiting all night. It happens less frequently with the antidepressant, but unfortunately, still happens occasionally. I'm hoping that, since it came on suddenly, that one of these days it will go away and I can stop taking the medication. But before the medication it was usually at least twice a month, sometimes more, and that was very bad. At least it wasn't Crohn's Disease like they thought at first.

Oooh! Crohn isn't that nice at all, so I'm kinda glad for you, Vorona. :) Can't speak from experience, though. But an acquaintance has Crohn's and it's not something I'll like.

I pity everyone who's being secretive about his/her mental well-being. I pity those even more who live in communities where depression is in any way "frowned" upon. There are a gazillion people who are depressed (If for 2 weeks your overall mood sad-ish, you are depressed.). It might not be "cool", but it's definitely not crazy or different. The word "depressed" has been given too much emphasis.

Its kind of funny that this whole topic of antidepressants has come up. Yesterday my son's doctor contacted me about getting him a full evaluation and possibly putting him on antidepressants. I have pretty mixed feelings about that considering he is still a young teenager.

I've know a few people with Crohn's disease as well. Lots of surgeries involved in that one.

There is a lot to be said for drinking plenty of water, getting a reasonable amount of exercise, and not smoking. Try and stay healthy people!

So far the medication has the opposite side effect, it's supposed to increase my appetite but I'm just so not hungry.

It'll take 4-6 weeks to get in your system and start working properly. Until then you just have to persevere!

Who'd have thought being a mental health nurse would be useful on a gaming forum?

Because obsessive video gaming and escapism is often sign of greater mental stress ? So in your expertise why am I not hungry ? It's been 20 hours (at the time of writing, 14h59 GMT -5) since I ate. I'm not an expert but the only difference between today and "normal times" is the seroquel pill I took, wouldn't that be the only logical explanation ?

And for the record I think BoM has evolved beyond simply a gaming forum, it may have started as such but I think the community has made it something else, something greater. I myself rarely go the gaming sections of BoM.

:( ah for crying out loud after semi extensive tests I've come to the conclusion that it isn't the headphone that are defective but the phone itself, that sucks plus I've rooted it with the help of a friend, so the warranty is out joy.
