Anyone care to share a dream? I'm talking about the kind that you have when your sleeping not the hopes and aspirations kind. The weirder the better :D.

Sorry - I never remember my dreams (I assume that I have them).

There are two that I can remember from this week.

A night or two ago, I dreamed that I went to a movie with my brothers (I think it was a movie) in my own car. And somehow, at this movie, I met an attractive girl, and we hit it off. Then it was time to go home, but I had lost the parking ticket. I dont know if people have this system in other countries - here, if you use a parking garage, you get a little ticket when you go in, pay on foot, and then hand the ticket in when you leave. If you lose your ticket, generally you need to pay a small fee to get out.

Anyway, so I lost my ticket, and this girl was helping me look for it. Somehow that brought us closer together? I dont think we even kissed though. Thats about it.

The other dream happened last night, I dont remember it as well.

It was about my ex. I dreamed that I knew she had slept with someone the previous weekend. For some reason this didnt bother me. And I was pursuing her again. Or something like that. And it went much like our relationship did - nothing from her side. This dream is much more fuzzy than the other one, for some reason.

I really really dont plan to pursue my ex again! I'm quite happy that its over.

@ dmc and Barmy - I think the subconscious actively hides dreams. It can take some people a lot of work to recall them.

@ Proteus - Maybe losing the ticket was beneficial?

The only time I remember my dreams is when I wake up while having one - like if my alarm goes off during the dream. And even then the memory is fleeting. It's like I wake up, the brain realizes it was a dream, and so files the memory in the trash bin as useless information.

[IMG] If you're going to recall a dream it's most likely to happen within the first five minutes of waking up, after that it becomes decidedly more difficult to recall any thoughts.

As far as exes go, I often dream of searching for them for some reason. Not in a stalker type of way or a lost puppy way, but moreso a they're-in-trouble-and-need-help-but-I-can't-find-them way. :heh:

I also often have dreams about trying to use firearms in life-threatening situations and having them fail in some way or other. No fun.

Sounds like the classic - 'trying to run somewhere and going in slow motion' dream. Just in case you might want to clean and service any random firearms you have lying around ... :D

I saw my daughter hit by a red corvette in my dream when she was five and first learning to ride. I woke up running across the room to get to her. It was the most vivid dream I've ever had and, after over twenty years, I still remember it.

When I was in grade school I recall that I regularly remembered my dreams. I was an active musician for much of my life, and used to get some really great song ideas from my dreams. I also recall a lot of dreams where I would end up falling, and wake up just before I "hit the ground." Not sure what that was all about.

For the last 15 - 20 years though, no. I don't remember my dreams at all. Maybe once a year I'll be woken up during a dream, and will sort of remember what it was about. But otherwise my dreams (I assume I have them, that is) are completely inaccessible to my conscious mind. Interesting to see that several others here are in the same situation.

I wonder - are those here who can't remember their dreams very sound sleepers, like the sort where you fall asleep and seem to wake up a minute later but it's actually eight hours later and you're fully refreshed?

I remember dreams and/or sensations from dreams frequently, but I also sleep sort of lightly and wake up all the time.

I usually sleep fairly deeply. If I make an effort to remember my dreams - and this will be over a period of several nights - then I remember them well. If I decide to let the dreams defrag my brain in automatic cleaning mode I just forget them.

I sleep like the dead, always have. I'm asleep within 5 minutes of laying down and don't wake up until it's time to do so the following morning. I'm doomed in a post-Armageddon world.

    :p

[IMG] I remember most of my dreams, I do not sleep well at all though, as far as I know there is a correlation between light sleepers and dream recollection, though there are a fair number of exceptions to the rule.

I have a hell of a time getting to sleep, can lie awake for several hours, some nights will just lie there until my morning alarm goes off. Then alternated with nights where I just sleep from pure exhaustion and wake up just as tired in the morning!

Haha, I'm the same. The amount of times I've woken up and someones said 'Did you hear that huge storm last night!', '... Nope!'

Once the wind was so bad it uprooted an electricity pylon directly outside my house, which fell and crushed a car. It woke everyone on the street except me! I will not wake till my body is ready. I'm forever sleeping through my alarm, so I have to set 2. I think it's something to do with me doing shift work, my body has just learnt to grab as much sleep as it can when I do drift off!

It depends with me. I sometimes do not sleep soundly, but often go out like a light. Either way, no dreams (that I can recall).

    @Dice - Interesting link :)

Barmy - I've slept through an earthquake! Seems we're a bit alike in this regard.

Nope. I almost never remember dreams, but am a very light sleeper. Almost any change will wake me temporarily. I've woken up in the middle of the night because the power went out and it became overly quiet :)
