[IMG] So.. I've cleared all the sirines and wolfweres on the island yet I find myself on the 4th floor of 'Ol Balduran's ship and it is mission impossible to kill topdog(forget his name) , his mage and cronies, to say the least.. I get that they have magic resistance and normal weapons don't work but WTF!? seriously WTF!? I have reloaded maybe 50+ times and I can only manage to kill 3 of them at any given time. My party is an average 7th level party so I dont think XP is the issue. Should I do Durlag's Tower first to gain more XP anyways?

Are there any spells or weapons that are uber effective? My party is as follows:

    Charname (Ranger - Half elf)
    Minsc
    Dynahier
    Yeslick
    Imoen
    Jahiera

    Appreciate any assistance. :(

Pre-battle buffs. Haste, Bless, Prayer, Chant, PFE, Barkskin, Mirror Image. Any potion that you have, like Potions of Invulnerbility, Potions of Defense, Giant Strength Potions. Summons. And I always use Skulltrap in that fight as well. Change your order of marhc so that your fighter types draw the enemy. If they flood onto Immy, she is toast. I also prefer using 1-handed weapons and shields instead of 2handers in that battle. I prefer to pump my AC as best I can before big battles.

Well...I haven't really done TotSC much. When I tried to solo bg1+totsc with a druid, I actually completed werewolf island, and that fight I got through by basically using (iirc) charm person/mammal on the top dog, I let him take out the rest of them, then spammed wand of the heavens plus dagger of venom on him till he dropped. With the magic resistance, it's obviously just down to luck more than anything but it's a useful tactic.

Thanks Blades, I have tried to buff but not enough perhaps.. The only lycanthrope weapon I have is the Silver Dagger - (Werebane) found on the second level of the ship.

Should I haste Minsc with this weapon and aim all my artillery on the topdog? (Karoug I think his name is) The mage always seems to get me with charm too.. :bang:

There is sword as well on the island that should help. There is a walkthrough on this site that should give you it's location.

Also keep in mind that Karoug, as a Greater Wolwere, can only be harmed by weapons enchanted to do extra damage to lycanthropes, such as the Bastard Sword +1, +3 vs. Shapechangers, the Flametongue Sword, and the Silver Dagger.

Thanks Guys - I killed Karoug eventually. I buffed up the whole party on potions and divine spells and set minsc with werebane in hand on the topdog. As soon as Karoug went down, his cronies fell like wimps.

    Appreciate the help.

    ---------- Added 3 hours, 16 minutes and 37 seconds later... ----------

I used the silver dagger in this case as I wasn't aware the Bastard Sword +1, +3 vs. shapeshifters was effective. Should be good fun with the dopplegangers though! :)

    Thanks again for the help.

Well done, looks like I am just too late with my advice.
This fight is a lot harder if you have mods/upgrades installed due to the re-generation for Greater Werewolf. Whenever I got stuck here I would use stealth and/or invisibility to get my guys positioned in the cabin at the top so as to have a good defensive position.
And the very limited number of weapons that do damage is a real pain - I had a lot of fun when I did this fight with 3 multiclass Clerics who aren't allowed to use any of them.

How did you manage the fight?

Sorry, haven't been on for a while and didn't see the question.

The answer is a bit dull really. I was expecting problems, but there is a wand that works on the boss werewolf so I blasted him with it. Getting into a good defensive formation is the clever bit, using wands requires no skill at all so I normally avoid them.

Well, you managed, that's the important bit.

I always forget the wands, partly because I don't like to use things I can't replenish, so I rely on memorized spells mostly (and reloading wands by selling them is costly). I win the fight by buffing with everything I got, especially haste, potions of giant strength for my warriors (they have to deal damage quicker than Karoug generates) and using my spellcasters to MM the mage-fellow to prevent him getting of spells, while my cleric acts as a minor warrior keeping the lesser werewolves away from the mages and healing the injured.
