    I can't imagine this catching on... ever.

    I also don't buy that they'll be able to make it cost about the same as real meat. And even if they do, who would be willing to pay the same for this fake "meat" made from fecal bacteria and soy protein?

    After reading that article, it seems to me what you are eating is bacterial proteins that grew on Feces, mixed with soy protein. So, I would think you would have no worries as you are not eating ****.... :D

    For the record - no, I'll never eat a poo burger. But I'm a westerner. Asians have very different sensibilities when it comes to food, and eat some magnificently grody things.

    I would love to eat synthetic protein. What do you think made the grain that the cow eats grow? A large part of nutrients in even the finest meat comes from poo as it is, do not really see the difference.

    Who knows what they did to it though? Look at trans fats and hydrogenated oils these days; most think they're not good for you. Why would I pay the same amount (or more I would say) for something synthetic... and made from waste?

    Thanks, but I'll pass on this as well. I agre with BTA - the guy thinks that once they get things rolling it will cost about the same as normal meat. So why would anyone want to purchase this stuff if you can get real meat at the same price? In fact, even if it costs a fraction of what real meat costs, why would anyone want to purchase this stuff?

    Hm. I have my doubts about that. They could probably make animal feed much more cheaply from the waste than trying to make it look/taste like beef. But again I point out that artificial and highly processed things often turn out to be not-so-good for eating.
