When I had sleep apnea, due to a long palate and deviated septum and nothing to due with weight cause I'm skinny, I used to rely on caffeinated pop to keep myself going. :coffee:

Once I went on CPAP therapy, I noticed I no longer needed caffeine to keep myself going during the day.

So, I managed to make a lifestyle change for the better.

Cold and diluted green tea sweetened with lemon juice a drop vanilla extract to wake myself in the morning. Cold fruit-based herbal tea during the afternoon. Then cold peppermint tea in the evening. Each sweetened with a little honey.

Anyway, what do you drink?

Feel free to admit to unhealthy choices despite the tone of my first post. ;)

Why do you sweeten your tea? I drink mainly unsweetened iced teas (brewed myself), water, milk, occasionally juice, occasionally unsweetened hot tea.

Not that I'm averse to carbonated beverages (and if I'm at someone else's house, I won't turn it down if that's all there is), but I've never really liked the carbonation, and it frequently makes me hiccup.

So far today, I've had 1 bottled water, 2 cups of coffee and 2 beers with lunch. I might just have a third beer.... :)

Yorkshire tea, strong coffee, beer, wine and fine whiskey.

I couldn't live without any of those.

    For enhanced flavor? :p

But yeah, my sweetener choices offer definite health benefits notwithstanding a little extra calories.

Its not like I'm adding that refined sugar garbage into it. ;)

[IMG] Lime squash at the moment, the water on its own here makes me ill so it has to either be boiled into tea or boiled, coolled down and made into squash.

I don't drink fizzy drinks (I find them irritating) and sometimes if we have spare cash we'll stock up on J2O to put in the fridge for me.

Tea I like to add spices to sometimes :p Earl grey + Bourneville cocoa is an interesting flavour, as is adding ground cinnamon or ginger. I'll only have a little sugar in it if I add bourneville. Otherwise I have a plain green tea or a ginger tea if I'm feeling nausea.

    *sigh*

tea = a Yorkshire tea bag brewed in boiling water until you can't see the tea bag anymore - pitch black is what we're looking for.

Then a little milk.. by little, I mean, little. Let a short bit drop in, then pull away. The milk is totally necessary, but over-doing it is a sin.

That is a cup of tea, any other is not proper tea.

HOWEVER - when it comes to coffee, get that milk out. We need a strong espresso mixed with a loads of steamed milk. A caffe latte, if you will. If you fail at this, and are just at home, then Nescafe Alta Rica Instant is an acceptable substitute, for every day use.

    Barmy has spoken.

Coffee in the morning. I've recently switched to decaf for health reasons.

*Maybe* a Pepsi Zero in the afternoon. Again, switched to the zero calorie, 0 sugar/carb/fat version for health reasons. Somehow they still manage to get some taste in there. It’s not bad once you get used to it.

In the evening it's icy cold bottled water for the most part.

On special occasions I might have a glass of wine in the evening, or maaaybe a beeer, but my alcohol intake is nearly non-existent these days.

If only I exercised more I’m sure I’d be fit as a fiddle.

Coffee in the morning - half and half, sweetener is optional. Water and coffee throughout the day (caffeine has no appreciable effect on me in that I can drink a pot of coffee right before bed and will fall asleep immediately (perhaps to wake up in several hours to bolt to the bathroom, but that's something different, now isn't it?).

Unsweetened ice tea is perfectly fine and what I usually get at lunch (or some kind of diet cola - diet coke with lemon or coke zero with no lemon). Wine at dinner every now and then, beer at the same rate. Scotch when I feel like having something to really drink.

Things I have randomly and without any particular frequency - hot tea (usually chai), any sort of espresso drink, lemonade, regular soda, gatorade or other similar stuff.

I had that beer #3, another bottled water w/ dinner and 2 cups of French vanilla coffee w/ half and half while playing Mille Bornes with the family tonight. Now you know. :)

Inferior tea bags? Is there a differentiation within inferior?

Loose tea all the way. And good tea needs no flavour enhancement per se. Yasmine tea doesn't count. I like Assam in the morning, because of its stronger flavour. Having a piece of rock candy and a slice of lemon (skin must be untreated) in it is a nice touch though.

But as for beverages ... I like self-made iced-tea (some lemon syrup with a (tea bag) black tea - then cooled in the fridge. I also like strong coffee, fine tea, beer, wine at dinner and whiskey. I drink water, too.

I've just found out I'm allergic to caffeine. After having stomach problems for the past 20 odd years it turns out it's the caffeine :(

Now I drink camomile tea, green tea, water, lemonade, decaf tea and coffee and water.
It's a pain because I used to drink fresh ground black coffee and I despise instant so I tend to just stick to tea. It's too much hassle to empty out the coffee machine, clean it all out and refill it with decaff and then switch it back again.

My Bro gave me this formidable coffee machine, with freshly roasted and ground coffee, as a birthday present.

Makes wonderful coffee, is beautifully designed, and is a delightfully cunningly conceived machine. Somewhere in-between an espresso machine and a normal coffee-mat.

Silvery - recall that decaf coffee still has caffeine, just not as much.

I never understood this british tendency to make the tea so strong that if you put a spoon in it, it will jump out again by itself because that's how bad it tastes, and then you have to add milk to it to make it pallatable again.

I drink mostly water and tea. Water at home, hot water in winter, cold water in summer. Tea mostly at work and usually once a day also a cup of coffee to help me overcome the sleepiness after lunch.

Why all this hate on tea bags? Obviously the water is changing color, and it tastes different, so a good deal of that tea taste and health goodness must be getting through.

Ultimately, the decision to sweeten with a touch of honey is a personal decision. ;)

Yes, that was my point. By "inferior bags" I meant all bags are inferior, not that they were using the inferior ones. :)

Because the content of the bags are made up of what they sweep off the floor of the tea warehouse. Try some loose leaf tea sometime; I think you'll notice a difference :)
