[IMG] Have something similar here called Secret Santa, usually done by classes or offices where a group put their nmes together and draw a name at random and have to buy them a gift anonymously.

The cake was delicious. Mums make the best cakes, exceeded only by grand-mums. When I think of it ever since my sister had her children my mother is a grand mother.

Work tomorrow, don't really want to go. I suppose I can't expect a pay without work. To the amazement of my co-workers my cubicle is without any sort of "personal touch" every item is strictly work related. I just don't see the point of it why the hell would I want to personalize my cubicle in the first place ?

I'm a glorified search engine who answers questions to clueless customers on a subject I don't give a *&#$, i.e. tourism. Meh nowadays with the internet and the tons of available documentations my job is redundant at best.

Fortunately faking that I care easily comes to me now.

edit: I love the androidVNC app it really is awesome.

It's official, my body rejects stitches. These lasted about a week, and yesterday the surgical site opened back up, leaving a crater behind my ear. Can we say urgent follow-up? The walk to the hospital in the cool dry air killed by airways though, and I wound up with a massive headache, too.

Thanks, I'm much better after a couple nights good sleep. My ear is now taped to my head, which should give the skin enough time to close. Itches like crazy, though!

My nephews and nieces have a total of eight children. Go into any Toys 'R' Us store and I'm sure you'll find something. Works for me every year. :)

Finding something for the grown-ups is much harder for me!

Well, what you got is more than a printer, it's a scanner too, and they often come with (in addition to the scanning dsoftware) Optical Character Recognition software so that you can convert the scanned image of a document to a text document on your computer.

Of course, that particular system is quite useful. By "crapware" I was referring to programs such as photo editing tools, an "easy printing toolbar" for web browsers  , a "tool to print from MS office 2007" or something like that (I just didn't get this one... whaa ? but... you don't need an additional software to print from office ! :skeptic:)

Well, consider yourself lucky Ofelix! I just bought a printer/copier/scanner from a company called Brother for $250 and thought I scored! It was on sale for 2 days - regular price $500. Can I now say "Oh Brother!"? :aaa:

Puzzle toys in her age range are a good idea. At that age, they are still learning how to manipulate objects.

ION, it is waaayyy too cold in Florida right now. Today's high was only 46F (~7C) and is expected to go down to 19F (-7C). It does not even feel close to subtropical right now. Brrr!

Ofelix don't get anything with lots of bits in it. They'll get lost and stood on and her parents will find the pieces in their shoes, bed and fridge.
Ashley is banned from all toys that have seperate bits. Especially the ones that are designed to be easy to take apart and put back together again for three year olds. The manufacturers lie!

I think Stef and I are thinking on the same wavelength. Get her a Rubix Cube.
It is simple to play, involves a puzzle and has no small parts that be easily lost. Perfect, really.

Thank you all for the advice, I think I'll follow Stefania and Decados' advise, puzzle seems to be fun and educational. As her uncle and godfather I've got an interest in her intellectual well-being . I think it's a side effect of being in an University, sometimes I naively believe others will find this stuff as interesting as I do, but also in great details.

This paper is going well, so fascinating ! Polysemy in NPL systems [Natural Language Processing], it's basically a probabilistic algorithm, the computer basically "guess" which meaning of any given word is the correct one. Its implications ranges from AI to automated response system (like those telephone thingy that interpret your query).

    Fascinating ! [/Spock voice]

Enough Procrastination. Flix Away ! weeeeoooong !

Post Spammus: I long to be in Grade school, so I can finally do my own experiment on NPL rather than just commenting on other's, as fascinating as they are.

As her Godfather you are actually supposed to buy her something that's noisy...like a drum kit
