I believe you and that's another reason why I really don't care much about DA2.

I actually preferred the first Diablo (pre-Hellfire). The only reason I stopped playing it was the first Fallout.

1997 was a great year for CRPGs. ;)

I liked the first Diablo better as well. At least it didn`t have that "Save and Exit" thingy. That bit pretty much ruined the second one for me. Made it tedious, and it utterly ruined the continuity of the story.

I don't really remember the first one too well, I haven't owned a copy for many years, but I DO remember a demo I had which I was totally addicted to. I might have to pick up a copy of each of them in preparation for D3's release...

Blizzard makes pc games. Bioware makes console games that are also released on pc.

    I only game on PC.

D1 was very fun, as it was pretty much the first of its kind, but the game play, in retrospect is horrible. Evedy player/monster/object occupies a "tile" on the game, so if you want to walk to an object that is diagonally to the location of your character (say up and to the right), when you click on the object your character will move up, then right, up, then right, up, then right until it reaches to object.

D2 I think was much better. More classes, different skill sets for each class (remember in D1, every character had access to all the spells), and even the "save and exit" function was put in there so you couldn't save after killing each and every monster leading up to a boss fight.

As for D3, I cannot wait. (Is there even a release date for the game yet? I know they announced the final character class at BlizzCon last month, but I haven't heard a release date yet.)

I always found Diablo 2 a bit 'click click click, dead, click click click, dead, click click click, dead' which = boring. I'll probably still get Diablo 3, but I'm more looking forward to the next Dragon Age.

Ah... you're doing it all wrong. You assign your main attack to your RIGHT mouse button, and then you just hold it in and move the cursor around the screen to kill stuff.

Aparantly Diablo II will be out on consoles as well. Probably abit later than the PC version though.

I honestly cannot see any reason why not. There was a bastardized version of D1 out years ago for the original playstation, but with a very limited skill set.

Honestly, the only thing that holds the Diable series back from being a great console game is the sheer number of skills. In D2 alone, you are allowed to assign 16 skills to hotkeys, and even simple builds regularly employ about 8 or 9 skills regularly. Add in potion use, and weapon switching, and I can see why it would be difficult to employ on a console game without employing combinaitons of triggers and botton keys which could become cumbersome.

Diablo 3 by a wide marigin and this despite only playing D1 once while really bored in the army and giving up on D2 after 30 minutes of gaming. As I have mentioned in other threads five years of WoW have turned me into a massive Blizzard fanboy, I have complete confidence in their ability to make great games. For every flaw they have other companies share it and usually it is bigger.

I kinda enjoyed DAO but it felt so limited, having a lot of fun with ME2 now so if DA2 is more like that it might be something positive but I just dont think anyone can compete with blizzard when it comes to making games.

I would have voted for the Witcher 2 option.

Me too. Even though some of the choices they seem to have made for The Witcher 2 seem somewhat dubious to me, it's still no contest between anticipation for The Witcher and DA2 or D2.

At least they don't seem eager to throw away all the things that made the Witcher an enjoyable game. As far as I'm concerned, I have absolutely no desire to play a DA2 that would be a Medieval Mass Effect. The irony is that DAO sold more games than ME so it really doesn't make sense.

Dragon Age came out on 3 platforms though. Mass Effect came out on xbox and PC only (allthough they are being released for PS3 these days). Could count for some of the differences in sales, I guess.
