BGT: couple of questions

I'd like to dual Imoen but I could use Safana as a thief while she is leveling up as a mage. For this I have to temporarily kick out of the party Khalid+Jaheira. Do they wait for you forever wherever you leave them or will they disappear after a while? I've also read that with high reputation (20) Jaheira will disappear immediately. Is this true for BGT?

Second question: what happens if you don't level up immediately (like in level squatting) and you dual class. Is it even possible? Will the experience not used yet for leveling up be used for leveling up in the new class immediately?

It is not possible, second class will always start at 0xp, basically you waste spare xp on the primary class that can't be used in any way.

If you boot Jaheira from your party when your rep is 20, she will leave forever with Khalid since she is unhappy about your reputation. If you boot Khalid first, he will leave with Jaheira but since it will be him doing the talk, he will be happy and together they will wait where you left them. So let Khalid take the initiative for the first time.

Ofcourse if you have any TuTu mods, you can seperate them, send them to a spesific inn, or they may even be angry and leave forever if you boot them out of your party in a dangerous place like a dungeon.

Oh and if you have NPC mod, Safana at some point can teach Imoen some new tricks about locks, giving a permanent bonus to Immy's open locks score.

I'm using BGT, no mods installed except spawns tweak. I'm currently trying a no-reload game with an Undead-hunter as protagonist. I just cleared the bandit camp and explored most of the areas except some rich XP ones like sword coast and basilisk grounds. Imoen is currently a level 6 thief so I can't dual her until level 7. Will she regain the thief abilities by the end of TOSC, for Durlag Tower?

 

I thought characters booted gain no experience after you drop them off. This could be bad.

 

All depends on the XP that is available. I think she will. If you need to, try resting in an area where the random encounters are high in XP. Like the Golem cave on the Sword Coast for example. That will rack up the XP quickly for you as the Golems are not that tough. Just utilize your equipment/spells to make a super tank who can go toe-to-toe with the Golem, with the rest of the cast in support.

 

Well if you pick them up again they will have the same experience as when you left them. When they're picked up again they'll be supporting a higher level party in more difficult situations, or replaced with higher level companions I guess.

 

I have dual-classed Imoen at level 7, but not immediately after level-up in order to find some more traps on the same map, and I can confirm that when dual-class all the experience gained since the last level-up performed is wasted. So you have to dual class ASAP after clicking the level-up button (ideally right after the level-up).

 

She just became mage level 8 after werewolf island, just in time for Durlag's Tower.

The greater wolfwere on the ship was a tough battle, especially because of the cramped space. I was killed two times (despite trying a no-reload game) but I believe it's excusable since it's the first time I play through this part of the game. I'm off to Durlag's Tower now.
