    No wonder why we stink at soccer - our team cannot even be counted on to show up on the correct continent.

    More like an intern pulled the wrong stock photo.

    Of course, more than one person had to see that graphic before it was aired, and so multiple people missed it.

    Mildly excited, our new coach seems to be a competent one. He's very down-to-earth, I like that :) IIRC this will be the Dutch first tournament without van der Sar and I'm wondering if the new goalies can fill his shoes.

    Keeping my fingers crossed for North Korea btw, go commies! :D

    At lunch, one of the TV's was playing Uruguay v. France. I tried to watch but found that I couldn't focus on it with all of the people dropping to the ground crying about their boo-boo's and the fact that it was at 82 miunutes and counting when I left with a 0-0 score.

    Re-confirms my "1" status on this poll.

    To be fair to the Americans, some of the games in the tournament will be pretty dull, like the Uruguay - France game turned out to be. You're probably better off tuning in to the USA games - at least you'll be cheering for one of the teams.

    It seems we need some clarification...

    Football = AWESOME!

    Rugby = almost as awesome, waaaay more violent

    Soccer = Futball = no hands, no tackling, no scores over 10, and drunken riots fueled by all the boredom in-between goals in which the fans get totally wasted (because, let's face it, there's not much else to do :p )


    Now, with the fine details between those sports finally put to rest, here's my take on the USA vs England game tomorrow.

    The Americans will enter the field as the underdog. England will take an early lead, crushing the American's hopes for a time. But after the 1st half, the Americans will rally together, and fight their way back to a tied game. Both teams will remain locked in a vicious tie for most of the 2nd half. Finally, within the last 5 minutes or so, the English players will spot the French team in the stands...sitting only a few rows back from the field. They're not doing anything...just sitting and watching the game. It is at this point that the US team will score several goals within the last few remaining minutes of the game...sending the English packing.


    Hmmm...now that I think of it, I think I may have heard a story vaguely similar awhile back. Bah, no matter... :p :evil: :p
