LaTeX is awesome. I'm never using a WYSIWYG editor to type documents ever again.

uuhhhhh, me too! Came back home this morning at 3am. It's not that I drank too much, only a lot in a small amout of time. It all went downhill from there. I actually played a computer game before going to bed and I don't remeber it at all (when I got up this morning, I saw I hadn't closed the game before going to bed...)

A short power failure in our village. What to do when you are alone during easter without power to bother people on the internet.

Auditions were... meh. For 5 hours we waited and waited, and 3 people showed up (out of the 6 planned), and they were all... eh. Then, a guy who hadn't slept for 48 hours (and might have been on drugs) came in and gave a spectacular performance. It was a nice way to end a bad casting session. Although I wonder how he is when he isn't crazy off the sleep deprivation.

Pretty much. Unless when they're evil, but then I have bigger problems. :p
Nothing like expecting a single spot and ending up with three, or seven.

    Happy Easter, everyone! (Hristos Voskrese!)

Soooooo tired. I'm supposed to be going to a party tonight...but I have a feeling that a single drop of booze will make me slip into a coma.

I hate that "strung out" feeling you get when you've been up for far too long and you're relying 110% on caffeine to keep you awake. :nolike:

I was woken up at 9:30 last night with the same feeling... then again it was a girl waking me up to get drunk and it seems the first 40 perked me right up :p

Got the tomato plants re-potted today. They're growing quite fast, so hopefully it won't be too long before we have tomatoes! My state's frist tomato crop got pretty badly damaged by the freezes over the winter, so the price on these things has gone nuts!

That's awesome Stef! Was wondering how the crops down south had fared with the freakish winter weather y'all had. I'm sure the prices on a lot of produce that suffered thanks to frosts and freezes are going to skyrocket.

Spent most of tonight playing Uncharted 2's multiplayer... a lot of fun, albeit very difficult. Probably could have gotten a lot of work done instead, but this was way better :D

    Long live LaTeX!

Once you have worked with a decent mark up language like LaTeX you recognise the shortcomings of WYSIWYG. I feel so all the more strongly since I use mark up languages at work.

Ever written a 50 to 100 page paper on MS Word, and then, before printing, tried to fix that last little thing you don't like about the structure or layer hierarchy or enumeration or pagination? Odds are that means Word srewed the entire document up in the process, and you have to do it all over again, resulting in an extra hour of work, or two or three. Or just think about automatic indexes and the like, yuck (mental note: we need a puke icon).

LaTeX is not only more stable, screw ups like that can't happen any more. Also, it is far better suited to display scientific texts, because it can display scientific formulas extremely well. It also works very well on older computers, and of LaTeX crashing I have yet to hear. All in all, LaTeX is an excellent choice.

I've seen a document like that floating on the Internet. Someone wrote a paper in Word, someone else then added some introductory text to the front - without a page break(!) - which caused the rest of the document to become barely readable.

At one of my previous jobs, there were some people who wrote papers that got published in advanced journals and they would swear by LaTeX. They would show me dozens of formulas that would require hours of tweaking to look publishable in MS Word, and no time at all to look pretty in LaTeX. The problem with MS Word was that you only knew what it would look like after you printed it, it might come out as garbage even though it looked fine in the editor. It's WYSIWYG, but that's not even guaranteed.

Don't even get me started on the abomination that is OpenOffice Writer, I have no idea why Writer is one of the 'flagships' of open source while LaTeX and its predecessor TeX (defined by Donald Knuth himself) have been available as open source software for decades and outperform both MS Word and OO Writer on almost everything.

It's Easter... my Mom sent me a picture this morning of all the candy the Bunny brought me... I am going to get enormous over this next few weeks.
