Saw Braveheart again. Good movie (even if historically inaccurate).

Death Race (2008). Provided exactly what it said it would - cars, 'splosions, and a hot woman.

The Princess and the Frog, which hasn't left any real impression. I'm a fan of old 2D Disney animated musicals, but it wasn't at their level. Still nice - but just nice.

Triactus, don't you just hate it when some of the really good ones are just too difficult to watch again? I mean movies like The Wrestler, Million Dollar Baby, The Colour Purple, and some others are just to depressing to give them another go.

Michael Hui's Mai shen qi (The Contract in English, got to love subtitles) a 1978 comedy made in Hong Kong. I'm still laughing.

True Romance. First time seeing it and I thought it was really good (didn't know Christian Slater could act :p )

I guess you haven't seen The Name of the Rose then, Kilted Crusader? :D

But yeah True Romance is a good movie.

Just saw The In-Laws with Michael Douglas, Albert Brooks, David Suchet and Ryan Reynolds. Pretty funny actually.

    There's a few:

Irina Palm - Marianne Faithfull is impressive.

Takeshis' - This one was weird, but Kitano's always Kitano.

Cowboy Bepop - As animes go, this one was good, but I liked Samurai Champloo and Tekkon Kinkreet better.

Religulous - No matter if I'd agree with some of the points in this documentary, I think Bill Maher is more detrimental in this than good...

In The Realm of The Senses - A Japanese hard-core, romantic, movie about how insatiable desire can drive lovers out of their mind. Boy did this film take me down to memory lane...the kind of love that brutally rends ones flesh and leaves one raw for a long long time. *Sigh*, such memories...

Aand, currently watching Y tu mamá también...

Do we count anime in this thread? In which case - Elfen Lied, which is fantastic. English dub is pretty bad (why does everyone talk an octave or three above normal?) - gave up on it halfway through for the subs. I think I might give up on English dubs altogether ... even if the Japanese voice acting isn't meant to be any good ... it's not like I can really tell anyway, and English dubs seem to be universally terrible.

I just saw Avatar. Like pretty much everybody, I thought the graphics were astouding! The story, however, was a bit lame, a sci-fi Pocahontas story...

What was more shocking was this is actually a true story.

Anyway, saw PUSH last night. Some intelligence thrown in but overall it's ahh, ehh, never mind.

Well, based on one. Although apparently Oshima kept pretty true to it. I've only seen bits from it.

    Last three I saw were:

Avatar - already gave my opinion that it was Pocahantas in space

Precious - Seriously depressing but an interesting movie. I thought Mo'Nique was really good, wasn't all that wowed by Mariah Carey and generally felt that much of the movie was like a continuous punch in the stomach, but in a good way (if that makes any sense to anyone, please let me know)

Sherlock Holmes - I was pretty disappointed. I knew that they were taking some liberties with the character, but I really felt that the actors were fairly terrible in their roles and was completely unable to submerge into it at all. I like Robert Downey, Jr., generally, but I thought he laid an egg in this.

Saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End yesterday.

I haven't seen that before, but seen the 2 others. What a highly entertaining and worthy end to that trilogy, I think.

Invictus -- great movie. Morgan Freeman was masterful as usual.

Up in the Air -- quite entertaining but a bit predictible.

Gran Torino. The movie has as many good lines as any. Love it.
