Last week Best Buy was offering a very good deal for those who wanted to buy a Sony LCD, PS3, a specific Blue-Ray Movie and a specific PS3 game. I was considering this offer but I did not like any of the movies or games with the offer. All I wanted was the TV and PS3. The Sony 46” TV I wanted with the PS3 was $949 with the free game and movie.

This past Saturday when I was shopping at Wal-Mart with my wife they had a packaged deal containing the Sony 46” and PS3 for $958, similar to the package deal that was at Best Buy.

I talked it over with my wife and we agreed either was a good deal. First thing Sunday morning we headed over to Best Buy. Low and behold the deal was only good until Saturday. I tried to get the deal and no luck, so I went to Wal-Mart and purchased the deal they had. I purchased the last of the 5 they received in stock. I was very lucky I went when I did or I would be writing about how I am upset I didn’t get my new TV this weekend.

The Sony LCD that Wal-Mart has with the PS3 is actually a step up from the TV that Best Buy had in their package deal. In fact, the TV in the Walmart package deal is selling right now at Best Buy for $1199. The Sony LCD TV I have is a Bravia 46VE5, their super energy efficient 46” LCD. The PS3 is a slim model, uses less energy than the larger PS3 and when connected to a Bravia LCD using HDMI cables it shuts off as the TV is shut off. The package deal at Wal-Mart should be noted as Sony PS3 Energy Star bundle as that seems to be the theme I got from my purchase.

By the time I got home it was 7PM; after I clean the driveway from the snow/rain mixture and set up the old 32” LCD TV and PS3 in my bedroom was 10:30. I never got to even clean the area where the new TV is going. I have a lot of stuff to move and clean tonight. I also have to go out and buy a new HMDI cable.

The new TV is not an LED, though I was very much considering buying one but they are still priced around $1500 for a 46”. My and I wife didn’t want to spend more than $1000 on a larger TV and we also were looking for a Blu-Ray player. After pricing out everything it came down to the two specials and it is too bad that Best Buy are retards and didn’t give me their special a day later. Oh well. It looks like I got a better TV for less than what Best Buy is selling it for today.

You got an awesome deal man - a 46" TV and a PS3 for under 1k is damn good. Too bad I boycott Wal-Mart, or I might attempt a similar deal (well, convince my dad to, at least :p).

LOL... I ususally try Best Buy first and I would have preferred the other deal as I was planning on selling the game and Blue-Ray movie. But they said no, so I went to Wal-Farts as I wife and 5 year old girl like to call it.

If I were in your shoes, I would have no new TV right now...and I would be happy.
You fed the beast almost $1k. :nono:

Yeah you are right about that but I got a TV that sells at BB for $1200 and a free PS3 to boot. This way when the in-laws stay for a week or so I can mozy my butt into my bedroom and not miss a minute of my DAO playing time.

Also, it finally allowed me to upgrade my DirecTV from standard programming to HD programming.
