Ragusa, obviously those women were distracted by your stunning good looks. They were desperately looking for a way to make your acquaintance.

Silvery, your post makes me want to sing "The Itchy and Scratchy Sho-o-o-w"!

Heh. That reminds me of when I used to live in Marina Del Rey. I'd ride along the bike path on the strand between Venice and Santa Monica piers for exercise, and I'd go fairly early in the morning when it wasn't very crowded so I could keep up a decent speed. The bike path is like a two lane undivided road for traffic in both directions.

One time I was passing this slow group of bikers/skaters so I was in the oncoming lane and just as I come up to within maybe three feet of this skater, she decides to pull over in front of me without looking. I was going probably at least twice her speed, so I had only enough time to say "Oh f**k!" before I hit her with my right handle bar. Needless to say I go flying over my handle bars. Lucky for me I'm pretty athletic and was able to land on my feet and take a couple of running steps before diving into the sand.

Another time this guy comes in on his bike from the parking lot side perpendicular to the bike path in front of me again without looking. Fortunately I wasn't going that fast and was able to keep my feet once vaulting over the handle bars. :)

No handle bar salto for me so far. Luckily. Where I drive it's all asphalt, and I go about 20+km/h on average, so I'd probably get hurt. Thinking of it, maybe I better go get a helmet. And something very visible for the dark time of the year.

Bicycle drivers are very vulnerable. And actually that's the most disturbing thing about traffic for me: You can do everything right, and when there comes some moon howling moron or drunk and runs you over or whatever - and that's it for you anyway. Meh.

"I try to hit bikers and joggers with my car whenever I can. Got my own scoring system down too! One's wearing spandex are worth bonus points! I mean come on, spandex? No one looks good in spandex other than super-models type chics. Please stop riding your bikes on my roads, thank you! That's why they make stationary bikes and treadmills, so us people in a hurry don't have to worry about the pain-in-the-arse-slow-ya-down biker and jogger morons. Out of the way, now!"

My rant, thanks, I will be hear all week....just kidding:p

BTA - I'm familiar with that spot and used to bike there back when I was in law school. Very difficult to stay safe, many crazy people.

Looking through old exam papers from one of my courses. Have been coming across a whole load of questions in this vane:

    Jihad is:
    (a) An Islamic holy war
    (b) The five times daily prayer of Islam
    (c) The Mexican New Year holiday
    (d) A marriage custom in Sufi Islam

    and

    George Bush is:
    (a) A Sunni Muslim
    (b) An Australian
    (c) A Methodist Evangelical
    (d) A divine prophet

Looks like the only way I'm going to fail this paper is if I go to the exam piss drunk.

It's actually my favourite of the "trilogy". I didn't like the first one (it took its three-penny philosophy waaaaay too seriously) and the third one was just horrible, but Reloaded was bad in a good way... OK, to be honest it was so bad I just kept laughing for most of it (including the bits where you are clearly not meant to) and at the end I was thinking the 2 hours were well spent.

Does the course organiser think that his students are THAT ignorant of world affairs?

I've got thin skin on both of my knees to remind me about one spectacular flight over the handle bars for the rest of my life... asphalt is sadly unforgiving when it comes to contact with the flesh. :bad:

Btw, biking helmets aren't mandatory in Germany? They have been here for several years now...
