    I need some inspiration.

    Rob and I are looking for a song to have as our first dance at our wedding and we can't find anything that we both like.

    We're both into rock and metal but we want something more like a ballad. However, not any hairbrush rock (bon jovi etc). It also has to be something easy to dance - well, shuffle - to as Rob has the dancing skills and grace of a frozen chicken.
    We also want something that has meaningful lyrics without being too emo.

    Any ideas?

    How about "Nothing Else Matters"? It's a slow waltz, I believe. Also, dancing lessons might improve your mate's performance.

    Wonderful Tonight -- Eric Clapton

    Has everything you want -- classic rock roots and is a ballad. It also talks about getting drunk, which is a bonus.

    Be sure you read the lyrics of anything you are going to use in your reception -- far too often the "romantic" songs are about breaking up (I WIll Always Love You), having an affair (Lips of an Angel), a crazed maniac (Every Breath You Take), or death (My Heart will Go On and Tears in Heaven). Don't go anywhere near White Wedding (hates one of the happy couple) or I Will Survive (just the wrong message at a wedding).

    Pretty well any slow rock ballad would work -- someone's already mentioned "Wonderful Tonight", I'm a big fan of anything slow by Billy Joel (don't know if that counts as classic rock for you, though), maybe Elvis? Beatles?

    As for the complications of the dancing, just do the side shuffle and it should be fine.

    If you want something newer, the wife and I chose the duet "Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Calliat. It was either going to be that or "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John, because she is, in fact, a tiny (4'11") dancer (ballet). :)
