[IMG] Well since this is my first time in IW2, I thought before i try to solo it i'd better give it a try with a six members party

it's an all evil party and so every chance i get i give the worst possible answer in dialog boxes in order to get in trouble :p , but i was wondering if not saving the villagers from Torak and killing Kaitlin may compromise the main quest ?

i haven't found an answer in any gamefaq so thats why i'm posting here

moreover which are the NPCs i shouldn't get in trouble with to avoid screwing the main quest ?

If you kill someone essential for the plot you immediately get a game over screen, so you won't get stuck unless you make someone hostile without killing him. If you kill someone in Targos, check if there's no one hostile left before saving.

[IMG] Don't massacre Targos, you need Oswald to proceed. If you encase him in a Resilient Sphere, you may be able to kill a few characters, and depart with him before he goes hostile... In principle you can attack Kuldahar, but this leaves you with little options. Just remember that kills won't gain you XP if the creature wasn't hostile (red). And sometimes it takes a few moments for a creature to turn red after being attacked, some may never go hostile atall. It seems pretty silly to me, there's nothing to gain by taking this path.
Going the anti-path on conversations will severely limit your dialogue options, quests, and XP gain as a result. If this is your first run-through, it's not advisable. You should try to get a good experience of the game. Just because your party is evil, doesn't mean they're all antisocial barbarians. They can talk, complete quests if it suits them, and still kill them afterwards;). Friendly NPCs aren't going anywhere.
I don't want to spoil it for you, but your party is gonna like the duergar quest:D.

[IMG] Kaitlin Silvertongue? No, she won't be there to reward you with XP for killing the orc camp and freeing her people, but you won't be stuck.

No sarevok66, you won't get stuck. Just have your Priest of Bane tell her " Stop your goodie-goodie whimpering and eat my mace, fool!" That'll shut her up. You'll feel much better afterward, trust me.

Hopefully that pain in the arse Moon-priest got the same treatment too I would hope? Maybe a couple of Nature-loving Druids as well?

Why do people insist that 'good' means stupid and 'evil' means psychopath?

    exactly :D

playing an evil character but making him choose the good paths and dialog options makes him look like what most evil wannabes are in real life: cowards

I know what you mean. ;)

Of course a group of bad guys could save Sabrina to get the path unblocked and then rescue the villagers (to piss Torak off if for no other reason) and then shoot at this nasty looking keg of blasting with a fire arrow to see the villagers burn... Kaitlin would have to go of course and the same fate would await the pansy druids and Emma Moonblade.

    Good times. :)

[IMG] No. Actually, the feats you can choose from will be less and less crucial the higher you get. That's the main reason that the fighter's extra feats per 2 levels (at level 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, etc.) aren't that great.
However, druid shapeshifts, monk combat abilities, and barbarian bonuses, can all be considered a form of 'high level abilities'.

Unfortunately, no. Prestige Classes would be the equivilant I think, but they are not included in IWDII. It's a shame, they would of made the game AWESOME!!!!

    well that's a sad story :(

high level abilities are precisely what made BG2 so much fun

What are you on about? HLAs didn't appear until the Throne of Bhaal expansion. In my opinion, BG2 was more a melee fighter's game, and it was the items and the storyline which made it great. But I guess I understand you, if you mean your fighters could finally 'cast spells' in a way.

I like the challenge of Icewind Dale II more, because the game forces you to think of spells and strategy from the get-go. The beginning is the hardest part, according to some. The reason for this, is your limited spell selection at the start. I'd say Entangle is the best starting spell:thumb:.

For some reason, I always liked BG1 the best, probably because it was the trend-setting game of them all, but I do like IWD2 as a close 2nd. It was fun and challenging all the way thru, with lots of different character builds, you can play it over and over and never get tired of it. That's the trademark of a truly great game, IMO. BG2 did that also, but to me IWD2 was better.

I wish they left the programming open to add Prestige Classes at a later time/expansion, but unfortunately they didn't.

If you had taken the quest to find her lover then you would have got some xp and a bow as well. Not sure if that's going to turn Targos hostile but if it doesn't then I don't think it'll affect you later, she doesn't re-appear
