    ...which was very much intentional. :) I'll not argue that the MTPP wasn't the pivotal invention paving the way to the information age. It was, but the progressions from print to the telegraph, telephone, Radio, television and Internet were in my opinion just as pivotal.

    The net can be considered to be a database. Who needs data?

    There's a lot of "useless poo" in any database, until you need it. With the wide variety of users it responds to and fills a wide variety of needs.

    There is no right or wrong in the dataflow. In itself it is beautiful and good (..and good lord I did not know that women could bend into such positions!)

    Actually, he was "just" the architect of the bill funding its creation -- who was intentionally misquoted by the right wing media*, only to have the mainstream media pick up that misquote without bothering to check its veracity. :p

    * Gore's actual statement was "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the internet." Clumsy wording to be sure, but he was also following the common practice of every legislator we've had since our country's inception -- taking credit for a bill he sponsored and helped draft.

    Unfortunately, the internet has really been around since ca 1983. Gore's bill in 1991 simply led to the commericialization of the internet -- which is not an insubstantial contribution.

    A very valid point, and Gore was of course referring to the modern day internet. He never tried to take credit for coming up with the idea himself, just funding it. When people think of the internet, they think of the modern information super-highway of today, not the fledgling Arpanet or Telenet, and not the TCP/IP protocols in existence since the early 70's that enabled its existence in the first place.
