Harbourboy, they dont breed them as tough up there as they do down here. Remember that they play football with pads and helmets stateside. Ladymen indeed.

They can't play football, it's rugby with lots of rest breaks, lawyers on the side lines and full body armour!

Someday these foreigners will realize how much more brutal American Football is...

I know that cold is better for you after a work out, but warm feels better, and that's all I'm concerned with, at least as long as I am young and durable.

Totally. I saw some recently on tv, and it was lots of stops and long breaks, and then some running around and bumping into each other with their body armour. Nancyboys all over the place. Real men play rugby.

Brutal!?! I take it you havent played or seen Aussie Rules football. It makes rugby look like a childs game.

[IMG] Ever heard of the scottish game shinty? It's so bloody dangerous, people get killed! The best players are built like brick shithouses, and even they are at risk. It's hockey, where you can whack the ball in mid-air, and use the stick to tackle and stuff. You can see that I don't play it, coz I still have all my teeff.:D

I doubt it. I watched the superbowl with two half-American friends once, and I was amazed by how many breaks there are. Rugby seems much more fast-paced... and there's something to be said about not wearing 40 kgs of armor :p

P.S.: I prefer showering, myself. If I'm feeling lazy and want to relax, I'd go to sleep afterwards :)

Ive seen the Irish game like this where peoples arms are being torn in half. Gaels are real men. Proud to be Scottish :D

Aussie Rules is pretty damn brutal too, and these guys wear no pads or helmets. Nothing but singlets.

The music is really bad, but the footage is pretty standard gameplay in Aussie rules.

I have watched it, and enjoy watching it whenever I'm at my uncle's house since he has a station that carries it. Yet, I still don't think that compares to collisions between a 250 pound linebacker and a 220 pound running back, both with under 5% body fat (steroid aided likely, but that adds the 'roid rage factor :p) run full speed into each other (and they probably both run sub 4.7 40m dashes). Sure there are terribly annoying breaks between plays, but I cannot imagine a more punishing sport.

It is also commonly believed that the 'armor' adds to the punishment, since players are far more willing to lay themselves out. And even with the extra protection, cracked ribs, broken necks, concussions, and the like are still amazingly common

I prefer shower only because it is faster and that the bath in the apartment is too small, despite the fact I'm not that tall nor fat (175 cm, 80kg)

Also, I don't require an excessive display of "manliness" to feel good about myself. I don't feel threatened in my manhood if I ever did anything other people would deem "girly". Hell I don't care what people think of me. I won't restraint my life because of some sort of archaic social prejudices of what is "a man"

I, for one, consider reading poetry* while listening to Chopin** to be an amazingly satisfying experience. Especially Baudelaire -- that man rocks!

    * Or any literature for that matter.
** Or any classical / baroque musician, I merely prefer this particular one.

I used to have a jacuzzi tub in my old house. I probably used it once or twice a month on average, especially when I was taking Tang Soo Do. Some of the sparing sessions and workouts left me pretty sore. But as a general rule, I take showers. They're quicker and use a lot less water.

I prefer the russians. Those men know how to write emotion into music. I mean, even the national anthems is enought to stir the cockles of the heart, and I don't even understand the words.

Try doing that with "Oh, say can you see". Why, yes, I can, thanks for asking. Sorry, I don't know any other national anthems off the top of my head.

Well, of course Tchaikovsky is quite good too. Probably the most known Russian composer in the west. His "The Nutcracker" and "Swan Lake" are classics!

Well, others can sit in a purfumed tub, drinking white zinfindel while listening to Swan Lake, eating truffles and reading a romance novel. I am quite content relaxing in my hot tub, looking up at the stars, drinking a beer with Skynyrd cranking. And I'm sure-as-hell not going to use a bidet before climbing in -- I use a lot of chemicals in my hot tub and they'll kill off any germs and bacteria (along with removing the top layer of dead skin).

I'm quite comfortable with my "feminine" side, but just tend to keep it hog-tied and shoved in a corner of my garage (metaphorically speaking)....

Edit: I'm a retired military officer who has fired the largest guns in the world, been shot the deck of an aircraft carrier (in a plane) and hung below a helicopter at 500 feet and 100 mph. I current work with chemicals that will eat the flesh off a person if they're not careful and my job involves destroying tons of concrete every month ... what would you expect me to say about baths....

What if the bubbles are self-generated? ;) :p

Military guy? Then I would expect you to say that baths are only fun if other guys are involved. :p

Anyway, I almost exclusively shower. We have a two-person hot tub that we use occasionally ( :) ), or I'll use it once in awhile if my back is bothering me.

The responses here make me smile - They're almost exactly like the ones from my friends: Everything from "Well sure, why the hell not?" to "A bath?? Do you take one with scented oils, candlelight and Celine Dion playing in the background?"

I do enjoy a good bath, especially after hard physical work or for those days where you just can't seem to get warm because it's so damned cold outside. Mine also contain bubbles sometimes, but strictly because I add soap to the hot running water. A-hem.
