Favored class should be based on how that particular race live their lives and such. Their mannerism etc. Not because a bonus on a stat.

Agreed, but in 4e, there is no specific mechanic given for favoured classes, so any reference to a favoured class is just "fluff". That's why Dwarves are listed with Paladins and Fighters among their favoured classes, even though the stats may not support them as well as they would support other classes.

Granted the "crunch" books are rather light on "fluff", I could see a Hybrid book (like Draconomicon), with some Fluff and some Crunch for each race as future releases, but nothing is announced as of yet.

Since it's been released. It hasn't gained even a fraction of FR's popularity and the Eberron features have been removed from WotC's site more or less completely over a year ago, so WotC obviously doesn't consider it worth spending any more money or attention on. I'm sure the fact that its creator has moaned about how underpaid he is at Wizards in nearly every interview he's given didn't sit well with the management either.

Um, Eberron's Scheduled for release for 4e this year. The Campaign setting is supposed to be in May I think and the Players guide to be released this summer. Maybe it didn't fare well in 3.5, but they're trying it again in 4e...

They won't stop releasing all the books for it just yet as that'd seriously piss off everyone who's bought Eberron material to date, but aside from that, there's little hope for the setting. I think it's just a matter of time before they chuck it in the bin with the other past settings that weren't popular enough. At least it'll be in good company with Planescape...

Of course Eberron is not as popular as the Realms. The Realms have a huge fan-base due to it's long existance. Eberron has been around for only a few years now. But judging how many source books were published for 3.5, it's been a success. They wouldn't have bothered if the setting didn't sell well.

The setting "vanished" from spotlight because 4e hogged it. Didn't you notice that realms material was also scarce until the 4e books were published? The designers are busy writing the books. That applies for Keith Baker and James Wyatt, too.

Also, Keith Baker *****ing about underpayment? Doesn't sound likely. The man is no regular at Wizards, but a free author. That's why works on several different projects, including the Pathfinder setting. He's so busy that he even can't update his website regularly. On which I never read something about payment by Wizards, by the way.

Actually, no, the Realms (and non-Eberron) material wasn't scarce. I've been posting every article WotC puts up on their site on a weekly basis in our news for several years now, so I have a pretty good idea what WotC puts up. You can go check if you like.

We've also posted news about a few interviews with Baker (and I've read even more), and his complaints about him being underpaid as a writer stood out enough for me to remember them. Of course, you're free to not believe me.

Edit: I just picked one at random from our news archives:

    * How has your life changed since winning the Wizards campaign setting contest?

That's a tough question. I'm getting to work on fascinating things, and it's an amazing experience to see Eberron expand. I love what I'm doing. But financially, RPG writing – even for WotC – is far less lucrative than computer game design. So it's not like I eat caviar every night or live in a fabulous mansion, or anything like that; my day-to-day life hasn't changed much. Nonetheless, it's incredibly rewarding to see people enjoying Eberron and to hear what people are doing with the world!

The subject almost never fails to come up in his interviews (or at least it did in the past, I haven't seen any in a while). It was especially painful to read in the earliest Eberron interviews, because he was quite vocal about his monetary disappointment after giving up his apparently much more lucrative previous career.

That quote comes not even close to complaining about Wizards paying to little. It is a statement that RPG writing is not a way to become rich. Especially when you're a freelancer. This is widely known. You are reading too much into the sentence.

Also, if the subject comes up, maybe the interviewers are to blame?

Look, believe what you want, and feel free to continue to ignore the rest of what I wrote, as it obviously suits you. Why you think you have to go on a crusade over this really baffles me. For the record, I like Eberron as a setting, so you're not really achieving anything here.

I`ve never spoken with anyone who has bought an Ebberon book though. Doesn`t seem like a popular setting at all, really.

@Rawgrim: That's because it's not popular in Europe. The sales in the US were high enough for Wizards to put out mutiple books.

By the way: You just have spoken with someone who owns all but 2 Eberron source books. ;)

Actually, I've never spoken to anyone who's bought any D&D book at all (IRL, that is).
