Okay, now that we're in the alleys, I guess we have to get serious about this. I don't expect any such bail out. Too many people would be offended (regardless of their own consumption of the product) for the Government to support such measure.

Someone else mentioned the point that there is so much free stuff out there. That has to cut into the sales and rental fees of such videos and magazines. Mind you anti Virus software companies could make a fortune off this, but that's not the point...

But even in my younger, more rebelious days, I never saw the point of watching other people have sex...

[IMG] If anything, there will be a bigger porn industry, because people have more free time when they're out of work, and there will be more jobless debutantes willing to work for less. It's a load of nonsense:nolike:. If they can prove that he's deliberately wasting politicians' time, he should be punished accordingly.

Oh, he's not wasting anyone's time. Congress doesn't have to give him a hearing at all, and if they choose to do so (which they most assuredly will not), Congress will be wasting its own time.

[IMG] Alright, who the hell moved my totally silly thread from Whatnots to the Alley?!? The last thing this topic needs is to be taken seriously! If you want a serious discussion on this, start your own. :nolike:

I want answers, and I want them now! :grr: :p

Actually, Gnarff, yours was the best of the bunch. Keep "up" the good work. :D

Edit: to everyone else - since this is my thread, please don't feel like you need to take it seriously, even though it was moved to the AoDA. I posted it in Whatnots for a reason. ;)

[IMG] ;)Don't worry Splunge, I was talking about punishing Larry Flint; not you:D:p
The thread isn't unbefitting the AoDA: Who said that serious topics can't be amusing! Keep it in, I say!:thumb:

I'd respond with something along the lines of "Punish me. Please!" But I think the moderators might take advantage of that. :D

OK, fine by me. Silliness in the Alleys isn't anything new. But usually it isn't intentional. :p

And do you have any idea how hard--er difficult it is to watch the words I use to avoid a double entendre?

[IMG] Now that Larry Flint knows what to do with his bailout, he should just relax, and get on with it. He isn't normally known as a rigid, anal-retentive stiffy, so he'll know it's time to pull out, and he should retract his request soon. The porn industry in the States is absolutely huge, and it will just grow bigger and bigger despite the poorly performing economy. The adult industry should be seen as a stimulator to the economy, and if Larry were to shower the market with investments, it would come alive again, ready for action.

    :DToo much?

To put a slightly serious twist on this issue, according to a book I read a while back the porn industry is not nearly the money making behemoth industry it is populary perceived to be. A large percentage and probably a majority of all porn consumed is never paid for. Most of it is also very small scale, "mom and pop" businesses if you so like even the big players in the industry like Playboy or Private are very very small fish by business standards. They might actually need a bailout to survive as for whether they deserve one, well that is the same argument as for any other industry.

Valid point. Firstly I would say that while I doubt pornography makes large amounts of money I don't believe it will be affected by the financial crisis, simple because the type of person who pays for it is unlikely to stop because of problems with the stock market.

Secondly I will say that even IF they are affected I doubt they are worth bailing out anyway. If a government wants to bail out a business there are a lot more deserving (or at least worth while) ones out there.

I'd really like to know what the Porn industry would do with 5 billion... Is there any way we can get an itemized list? :shake:

If taxpayers are going to be footing the bill, I don't want to see any of the following words in any of the product descriptions:
    • "hypoallergenic" (I don't care of Ron Jeremy has sensitive skin...there's got to be a few downsides to having a job that requires that you have sex with random women!)
    • "all-natural" (Everyone knows that "all-natural" products cost more...so if it's not synthetic, too bad!)
    • "deluxe" (Sorry, but those strap-ons, vibrators, dildos, and other "tools" better be the basic models.)
    • anything that has the phrase "designed for her pleasure" (Yeah...if we're watching porn, it's for OUR pleasure, not for the actress'... Besides, everyone knows all that moaning is fake anyway. :p )

This is simply a political protest by Larry Flint. He is quite well known for taking an absurd stance on an issue to show just how ridiculous the issue is. In this case he's making a parody of all the companies who, even though they have run their own profits into the ground, expect the government to give them more money. This entire bail out issue has been a fiasco and Mr. Flint is trying to show America just how stupid he thinks our politicians are.

He's clearly targeting the democrats though ... the republicans read Playgirl.

But unlike the Porn Industry, the whole economy just might collapse if these companies don't get that money...

I find the thought of Congress bailing out porn very funny. Hopefully, it will educate everyone a little bit as to how wrong it is to have the government bail out failing businesses. If the government is there to "make everything O.K." where is the incentive to make good decisions?
