I was thinking earlier today (I know, scary thought) and i wondered, do people here start on the top button and work down or start at the bottom button and work up, when doing up shirts and coats?

    [IMG] Dalveen thinking? :mommy:

:p You *did* ask for it!

Anyway, to answer your question: Top-down for me.

Usually a case of starting at the top, working the way down. Get to the bottom, worked out I started unevenly, then have to undo them all and try again.

That's so funny. That's the reason I go from bottom to top (and it looks like I'm the only one so far): If you start at the bottom, you always button correctly regardless of whether you button all the way to the top or not.

Bottom up, especially with anything form-fitted. Otherwise, my chest obscures my view...

I actually start 2-3 buttons down, work my way up, then work my way down. I have no idea why I do it that way; perhaps it was that traumatic childhood event involving bees, a potato peeler, and an Archie's Digest.

Every time I get to the bottom and find a surprise extra button there I think to myself "gee, it really would be a good idea to start doing this the other way around"! So far I haven't put it into practice yet; I think it's easier to start on top.

I've heard that going from the bottom ensures you never make a mistake, but when I start at the top of a dress shirt, even if I skip the collar button, I never make a mistake.

If I'm doing up button fly jeans, though, I go from the bottom up, but that's because doing the bottom buttons helps me tuck in my gut. God, that's depressing to even think about. Speaking of depressing, comments like:

    and

are not helpful -- now I'm thinking of women undoing buttons and I'm all distracted and do not think I'll be able to teach today! Ladies, have a heart and don't put such images in the heads of the easily distracted!

ARRRGGGH! Chains? Are you kidding me? You know what they say:

Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But whips* and chains excite me!

    Whoooo, OK, calm down LKD.

I think maybe I need a little more action than I've been getting lately.

*Maybe it's just a symptom of a diseased mind that when I think of women and zippers, my mind automatically goes to whips and PVC garments. Sorry to intrude on this otherwise rational discussion of buttoning techniques. I'm off for a cold shower.

Some things I take from the top, ohters I start from the bottom. But most things I like to wear don't have buttons...

I can go on any diet I want, but will still have problems! :D
Of course, the fact that I'm a woman may have something to do with it... :p

Sorry, LKD, but it's the facts... besides, if you heard me cussing, the fantasy would be blown right there.
