DotW: AN Ipod might help you if the batteries last long enough for you.

Meanwhile, I've learned that ourWireless High speed internet connection can be disrupted when it snows heavy...

Last night I got so desperate that I went back to teh dial up provider for a couple hours...

iTrash? Nah, I got a 2GB Zen with a SD slot. And then there's the fact I can use the USB charger of my RAZR/W175 to charge the Zen without needing a computer.

[IMG] Salamander has decided he wants to live with me next year when we move out of uni accomidation. I feel amazing :)

Managed to push myself most of the way from uni to home and most the way around uni as well, which is an achievment for me even if it is a pathetically short distance. Next week I may be out of it entirely!

Had a couple of drunks mock me as I went past though, one of the other wheelchair users at uni was alongside me, he has an electric though. They made some rather inappropriate comments. Had to talk Sal out of going back and showing them what for. Had to try and convince him it just wasn't worth it.

Your flow hoods are actually called chapels? How awesome is that?! They're literally places of worship!

"I am the Greater God of Phenolic Compounds! BOW TO ME OR DIE!"

Not while you were wearing them I hope? :mommy:

Just take a laptop with you and keep babbling during them. It'll make it easier to stay awake too :p

Why weren't laptops invented when I went to school? Or BoM? Or the Internet?

Man, what a crazy F'N night at work. I can't say I'm sad of not working till Sunday night.

Buuut, I have the proper stuff I need to chill down, so that's exactly what I intend to do.

I prefer to worship the vacuum evaporator - it seems to work better that way :p

As for the goggles, I got them off in time, although it was rather scary - the needle used to provide a pressure release for the released vapours in the reaction vessel must have been stuck with something, so the syringe plunger was shot to the ceiling, and POCl3 from the syringe sprayed all over the chapel... This was over a year ago, and the protective gear did its job... still scares me in retrospective, though.

    ION, Friday!
    Weekend! Home! :D

You have a Vacuum. Evaporator...

Your experience with the goggles reminds me of a friend who was using a syringe to filter crystal violet (lovely colour but toxic and mutagenic) and the thing just exploded into his eye... and he wasn't wearing any protective head gear. Needless to say hilarity ensued.

In related news, I was back in the lab today after a couple of weeks of writing. Messed up a culture, destroyed one of my frozen stocks (a duplicate thankfully) and generally made a complete mess of things. It was great fun :D

I hope the weather gets all this snow out of it's system soon. It interferes with my internet connection, making it difficult to keep up with everything...

Ziad: All fun lab things seem to be toxic and mutagenic :p
Speaking of crystal violet... imagine the looks I got in the bus after a day spent synthetising methyl orange (which is pretty basic)... but done without gloves, so having completely orange hands, palms to fingertips...

I am home, the brother is away for the weekend, which means that I get the parents' undivided love and attention for three days :D
I wish that extended to the PC time, because I just waited for three hours for my dad to finish his PES league - and they say I'm obsessed.

Suffering from a paradox - too much chocolate in the bloodstream.

This has just opened up a massive flood of memories :shake:

    Benzene smells lovely too :p

I've never been around methyl orange, but the name gives a good indication of what you looked like ;)
