[IMG]It's hard to say today what's an unintended leak and what a marketing "leak", but regardless, the Xbox 360 version is out for the pirates to grab, VideoGamer reports:

Fallout 3, Bethesda's eagerly-awaited post-apocalyptic RPG, has been leaked onto file-sharing sites less than 24 hours after going gold. Impatient gamers have rushed to download the ripped Xbox 360 version, with one site claiming that over 800 people are now sharing a complete set of files.

It doesn't stop there. One cocky gamer has even gone so far as to post a live streaming video of their first experiences with the game. Presumably they don't have a problem with advertising the fact that they're breaking the law.

We have contacted Bethesda, but so far they've declined to comment on the situation. While we're sure they're not too happy about the leak, they can at least take heart from the positive response most people seem to be giving the game. Early reactions to Fallout 3 have included, "Sweeeeet!" "Yay!" and "I want to **** this game so hard!"

I read about this on Scorpia's blog earlier today. It immediately brought to mind the #1 excuse: "we're moving away from PCs and towards consoles because our products keep getting pirated on the PC". So... yeah. It's sad to see where the industry's going and even sadder to see what the consumers are becoming.

On a related note, I read part of the Swedish PC Gamer review of Fallout 3 (translated to English). It's a pretty balanced review I thought, as it looks both at the game's individual merits and in comparison to the franchise. The conclusion is pretty obvious though - he likes it as a game but doesn't think it really works as a Fallout.

I'm still undecided over whether I'm getting the game, but I'll have to wait for the PC version anyway so no need for a decision yet.

There were two or three of them.

Really? I seem to remember most people were laughing at the footage.
I only watched it for a few minutes and it seemed like Oblivion. Except even worse, the few things that were good were now turned to something terrible.
The game is way too easy (Super mutant went bye-bye in a second), illogical (from what I've heard from the story) and even more boring.

In addition to the fact that this game isn't Fallout anymore, the same old:
Remember when you accidentally picked up a plate or something and everybody came after you? Still in this game.
Remember when someone attacked you or fled, but their reaction was neutral, so you could talk to them? Still in this game.
You can't sleep in an owned bed - in a post nuclear world.
    etc.

Same here. From what I saw it may be a good game but it looks a lot like Oblivion... So much in fact that it doesn't feel like Fallout.

Not a big fan of FPS/RPG still it can only be better than Oblivion.

Did they ditch the silly Oblivionesque level scaling by the way? (which may explain the "Super mutant went bye-bye in a second" if they kept it) I must confess I was too depressed to read the entire article.

They didn't mention it in the article, but from what I've heard about it earlier, they do have level scaling in Fallout 3.

Level-scaling kind of ruined Oblivion, in my opinion. If they have that in Fallout 3, I won`t buy it. Plain and simple.

I agree wholeheartedly with that comment. Level scaling is certainly the worst feature in Oblivion, I mean what is the point of pretending that there is a huge albeit hostile world out there when you *know* that wherever you go the opposition will match your level. In fact, going into so-called dangerous areas at an early level is probably easier with that feature. So what is the point? Do you get random drops that match your level as well?

I guess that would explain wimpy supermutants...

In Fallout the difficulty of random encounters would increase in some areas. You could head to the Military Base before going to Shandy Sands but the vault dweller's chances of survival would drop dramatically.
With level scaling in Oblivion, I was able to close the first gate with a third level character... You can only suspend your disbelief that much.

I think I will play the Fallout 2 Megamod for a few more years...

There's level scaling with "some" creatures. No one seems to be sure what that means exactly.

The others are way too easy to kill even without it, since you can just use VATS endlessly for critical hits. It always hits and requires no weapon skill.

    There's no Oblivion-style level scaling.

This has nothing to do with PC piracy, given it's a review copy of the Xbox 360 version.

It is how you play it. If you want to cheese your way trough, your loss. Nut if you are stuck for days at a certain point,...

    On topic: hahaha....

Hence my comment above. Some developers and publishers moving from PC to consoles gave PC piracy as the excuse, and it's obviously not a terribly good solution, as this particular example of console piracy shows.
