[IMG] Started a new game this evening.

My leader is a Strongheart Halfling Sorceress and my party is made up of a Gold Dwarf Bard/Fighter, a Drow Transmuter/Fighter, a Tiefling Rogue/Dreadmaster, an Aasimar Paladin (who will get Cleric levels later on) and a Half Elf Druid/Monk.

I don't know why I turned the subtitles on... I never do. Anyway, some funny lines appeared when I clicked repeatedly on my Drow.

I took a screenshot of my Drow talking link.

I didn't expect that... I guess many players have already seen these lines but I thought I'd post this anyway. Isn't that funny?

[IMG] Yup, tried the female half-orc yet? :D

I always play with subtitles on all games I possibly can, my hearing is screwy and sometimes you get little gems like this :)

[IMG] OMG! That is so cool! I never noticed that before.
    Some cool quotes:
Female Wizard 1: So... ya fancy the short ones, do ya? [as a matter of fact...;)]
Ya know... I'm startin' to worry about ya.
Female Drow: Usstan ssinssrigg ula goln! (For non-drow heathens: "I long for, uh, goblins.")
Don't worry. The *yochlol* will leave candy under your pillow. Just be patient.
I shore do love me them spiders! [this one's with a hillbilly accent:lol:]
You will suffer. Suffer greatly. [actually she only says this in combat, but it reminds me of Irenicus:D]
Female Sorceress: Does this robe make me look fat?
    ::Fallout 3 Fallout 3 Fallout 3:: [?!]
Female Monk: Time to unleash the hidden dragon.
    Yes, I am quite flexible.
I am well-versed in several... tantric styles.
Once you have tantric, you never go back.

I never realized my monk was such a slut, she always seemed so formal:)

    Geez...didn't you know that? :p

I always play with subtitles on too.

Here's a gem only for IWD2: look up the dialogue files with some program. You'll find notes in brackets probably to tell the voice actors how to pronounce things. The notes for death cries are especially hilarious:
    "Shot in butt with arrow"
    "Stabbed through stomach"
    etc, etc.

Also, I like the rogue one - "So I kicked him in the head till he was dead! I can't believe I just said that..."

    Baldur's Gate.

I never tought there were so many funny things in the game. It's the first time my leader is a female Halfling and some of her dialogue options are really good.

There are many references in IWD2, a lot of them take some time to figure out. For example, I recently played Planescape: Torment. Actually I haven't finished.
I just know I need to be mage level 12 before I meet Ravel Puzzlewell to get all bonuses, so I'll be bouncing aroud Rubikon for a while longer...
Anyway, back to my example: If you talk to Hedron's blind mother, south in the Targos' docks, she tells of her visions of a city on a tall spire, and a black brambled garden. So it hints that she's an incarnation of Ravel's consciousness...

[IMG] There was a list somewhere of alll of Ravels 'Eyes', three in PS:T, one in IWD2, one in HoW for IWD1, on in SoA. Those are just the ones that appear in IE games. Those are the ones from the top of my head anyway. See if you can name them ;)

Hmm - I know about the IWD2 one and obviously the PS:T ones...never play HoW, didn't know about SoA. Need to check that interview again. :)

Some of us haven't played PST yet, I for one intend to play that game in the near future. It would be better to use the hide spoilers button when making precise references to plot elements or comments like these: "I need to be mage level 12 before I meet Ravel Puzzlewell to get all bonuses."

No offense, I don't mean to sound harsh I just want you to get my point, but when I play a game for the first time I don't look for a walkthrough and powergaming guides because I want to enjoy the freaking game. When you know the game inside out then I can understand that the only remaining attraction is the technical aspect and the rules. But playing a (good) game for the first time is like reading a book or watching a movie, if somebody keeps telling you what will happen next you can't enjoy it anymore.

Back on topic, I never thought of the relation with the planescape setting (which I'm familiar with from PnP). There may be something to it.

I guess I didn't find out before because I never kept hassling my characters like this (i.e. clicking on them over and over) and these sounds don't show up in the character generation screen.

Here are a few screenshots of the other characters from my current party: my rogue/dreadmaster/barbarian is a tease, my paladin/cleric isn't keen on being clicked on, my monk druid loves being cosy and my fighter/bard is just like any other dwarf not to be trifled with.

Selecting a soundset has more implications than I thought.:)

[IMG] Putting all those shots in an album here on BoM would randomly feature them on the front page of the boards and they'd get exposure even once this thread has run its course. Just sayin'.

[IMG] Sorry Caradhras, I didn't mean to spoil it for you...
You know, I mention quest bonuses in my poll thread often, and I haven't gotten any complaints yet. I think that's because everyone who read it knows them or wants to know them. It's not meant as criticism; your point is valid. I just mean that sometimes it's hard to keep track of what could be potential spoilers in the game. Personally I'd have liked to hear it, because I didn't say what the bonuses were, just what you have to do to be eligible... but you didn't like to. Or maybe the fact that you meet Ravel was the big spoiler? It was an honest mistake.:o
I tend to peruse the walkthroughs, ever since I missed a big side quest by choosing the wrong way to exit Spellhold in BG2. I did it again, didn't I? But I'm pretty sure everyone has played BG2 before...
When you're stuck in a game, you will read a walkthrough anyway. And there's nothing worse than reading about a big missed opportunity, and loading a really old savegame (hoping you have one) to get it anyway. I like IE games too, because they play like stories - PS:T more than others even.

As for Ravel's incarnation in SoA - I don't know. Maybe one of the Spellhold inmates? If someone does know, don't forget spoiler tags...:)

Totally off-topic but I'll reply anyway. This is the Icewind Dale 2 forum. If I want spoilers for PST I'd go and read a walkthrough or threads with the big header "SPOILERS" in capital letters. It is fair to assume that nobody can complain if they read a thread about powergaming tacks and find a spoiler, it's a different matter when you find information that is irrelevant and too precise. Referring to the Planescape setting doesn't irritate me in the least. Referring to precise points of the game (if you want a bonus go visit X) is irksome.
I know you mean no harm and it's a matter of no consequence but it was not necessary to make the point about the link between both games to refer to precise plot points.
Some CRPG players (like myself) don't use a walkthrough in their first run unless they are really facing a dead end and can't continue the game (which rarely happens). I'd rather bang my head against the walls looking for the answer to a riddle than having someone telling me do this to get a bonus or take this path because it's the best way and you'll get more out of it. A first run is never "perfect" so what? It's the first run that is always the most fun.

Somebody could have read your post without having played BG2 (only a few on the boards I guess but there is a possibility nevertheless). Again the information you gave about BG2 is not as explicit as the one you gave about PST. A casual reader by now would know that there are two ways to exit a place called Spellhold and that one is better than the other (if you are playing for the first time you don't know that and you don't care, you make your choice and cross you fingers waiting for whatever may happen to your party). That's not as specific as to get certain bonuses go see Ravel (click on this link at your own peril -joke intended). But still, it doesn't bring anything to the discussion or the thread.
It may seem that I'm making a big deal out of this but I dislike getting information like this. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that subject.

    EDIT: added spoiler tag.

no, i agree with you. it's just because everyone likes to play in their own way, that mistakes like these are made.

I hid the spoiler BTW, but it's useless if you quoted it... maybe you can edit?

[IMG] We don't require anyone to put spoiler warnings up for any IE games at this point any more. If someone doesn't want spoilers in their threads, they should make sure to specify that IN BIG BOLD LETTERS upfront.

Ok, my bad. It seems coineineagh is right then, sorry about the inconvenience. Good thing though that I did put a mention like this in the thread I started in the Planescape forum then.

I know these games are old but I don't see why they should fall under different rules because of that. I'm not contesting your point, I'm just stating mine.

Still, if I create a thread in the IWD2 or BG2 forum and I don't want any spoilers for PST but welcome spoilers for IWD2 or BG2, how do I go about posting this? I may have to think about a workaround solution.;)

Perhaps you should sticky that spoiler comment in the "Forum Guidelines, Information & Mod Lists - Read before posting!" threads that might help someone who is new to the Boards (and care about reading these).
