I'm all for a SP drinking party! It would be interesting to see who here could drink everyone under the table.

In other news, I've got the old D2 installed and I'm making the run-through with a Necro. :D :rolling:

    Maiden! Maiden! Maiden!

[IMG] Went to the Maiden gig in Twickenham last night. ****ing awesome. Brilliant from start to finish - and Eddie made not one, but two appearances! Avenged Sevenfold were a bit disappointing, though. One or two good songs, but mostly they were quite, well... boring, really. It was also confusing as hell them having a lead singer who's the dead spit of Vin Diesel. Within Temptation I didn't expect to like, but I did. Lead singer's got some lungs on her, for certain. ;)

We - my girlfriend, her brother and a mate - had got quite near the front, but had to fall back at the beginning of Aces High, as things got a bit mental. Settled down after that, possibly because the crowd had to slow down to avoid damaging their replacement hips. :p Seriously though, it was a good mix, with plenty of people who clearly weren't born when Maiden wrote most of there songs along with the ageing rockers. Speaking of ageing rockers, Bruce didn't look too bad up there, but the rest of the band... ooh dear. And whoever advised Nicko McBrain to wear cycling shorts needs shooting. That's not a sight that belongs on a Jumbotron; there were kids there, ferchrissakes! :shake: At least he was safely hidden behind the stage & his drum kit most of the time.

I'd have to rate that as the best gig I've been too - O.K., I've not been to too many, but the all round showmanship of it - the stage, the effects, the sets (especially for Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner) really made the whole event special. And I got a wicked T-shirt. :D

A SP drinking party? We need to get one of those sorted!

@Magpie: Personally always thought A7x were pretty poor- I'd have skipped 'em! Within Temptation can be good, although they can get a little poppy at times. Interesting that you note the appearance of the former's lead singer, but not the latter's!

Only seen Maiden once myself, but they were good- Bruce especially. Unfortunately, they insisted on playing A Matter of Life and Death...in its entirety. Much too slow to fill a gig with, IMO. As a final comment: he wore cycling shorts? :xx:

Now, A Matter of Life and Death is a good album, but I'd agree that playing the whole thing at a stadium gig wouldn't be the smartest idea. Better to stick to the classics - the atmosphere the barrage of tracks like Powerslave, Two Minutes to Midnight et al was amazing. As for WI's lead... She's certainly very easy on the eye, but I wasn't so sure about the Little Red Riding Hood choice of frock. But hey! It was hardly the greatest fashion crime I've seen committed in the name of Goth. Funny thing was that most people seemed to think they were from Sweden, not Holland. :shake:

[IMG] We should have another UK SP meetup. Hopefully I'd be able to go to more than one part of it... :)

Wouldn't it be a bit odd having a UK meetup in the US?

Well...I guess it wouldn't be a "UK meetup"...I guess "international SP meetup" would be more appropriate.

In other news, the wife and I just got back from a 4 hour photo shoot we did downtown. She's in the process of working with a modeling agency, but they want her to pay somewhere between $2000 to $3000 to have one of their "pro" photographer's create a "professional" portfolio for her. :skeptic: Nuts to that, I've seen the photos those losers take...they suck...my camera may not be the top of the line, but it produces pictures that look just as good as the "pro" cameras. Not only that, but the way these morons pose the girls makes you wonder, "WTF?!?!" :skeptic: :rolling:

It was good ol' Matt Barlow. It's a bit strange seeing the guy with short hair, though...

ION, I'll be spending the next weekend in the US. Getting out of stinking old Quebec will be good for the morale, let me tell ya.

I'd love to get to an International SP meet, but the budget just won't allow it unless it's in West Lorne...

These agencies have been doing that scam for a long time. If a particular person has the look that they want then they will not be asking him or her to pay for portfolio photos. The rest of the people who come in are considered to be potential customers.

Why don't you do a little research Kit and make the portfolio yourself. Judging by some of the photos that you have taken of your wife, you seem to be pretty good with the camera.

Not sure what to have for breakfast...

ION, my parents are having a big dinner party, I'll be glad when that's over. (Tensions sometimes run high in all the chaos of preparation)

New Zealand would be cool, but it's a bit in the other side of the globe and stuff.

I met my grandparents. I respect them, love them and everything, but every topic we discuss ends up with not-particularly-subtle advice about what I *must* do with my life. Meh.
