    Welcome to the Boards. :)

    There are several ways:

    1. Go to a temple. Easiest way. They offer Greater Restoration, and it will restore all your party members, if I remember corectly. You have to pay them to recieve it.

    2. If you have a cleric in your party, and they have high enough level, they can cast Restoration.

    3. Purchase a Restoration type scroll and use it.

Both the cleric casting Restoration, and the character using the scroll become fatigued after it.

Remember to memorize again any spells you might have lost to level drain, and then rest.

Prevention is always the best. Try to find items to protect you from level drain. Some classes are protected from level drain as well (Undead Hunter and Barbarian Rage come to mind). Characters protected from level drain can close and melee with vampires -- all others attack from a safe distance.

    I agree.

You can use the spell Protection from Negative Energy (I think that's how it's called) to give your characters temporary protection, but it wears off quickly so be careful. The spell is divine, I know druids have it (Jaheira for instant).

As for items, I don't know how far you are into game but the Shadowmaster gives you an Amulet that grants that (amongst other things).

On Vampires, use stuff like Hold Monster or fire based spells. Like T2 says, don't go melee.
Some other Undead can also level drain you (some Mist or Wraith types, but I'm not sure which.)

EDIT: Somehow I missed your post... Odd.

Right click the weapon on inventory screen, item description tells you if item is enchanted.

Golems are immune to magic, so your spells won't hurt them.
You need crushing weapons (bludgeoning) to do real damage to them, and your weapons should be at least +2 so you can hit them. You can see the details of your weapons in the inventory, as Anjo said.

(Usually you'll have to identify them if they have some heavier enchantment. You probably know this, but still: Identify is a level 1 mage spell, you can use scrolls for it, or the Goggles that the guy in Gaelan Bayle's house sells. Merchants can identify items too, but it will cost you 100 gold per item. Some items will be automatically identified, especially if you look at them in the inventory of your mage or bard. Like I said, you probably know all this, so forgive me for boring you :))

Some golems use Golem Haste, so hasting your party is not a bad idea if you are taking them on.

Also, if you have Keldorn in the party, some part of his original equipment (armour or sword, I'm not sure which) has a sweet magic retaliation feature, meaning that every time he gets hit, the opponent suffers some damage too. This works on golems. If you have a strong healing backup, you throw Keldorn in a melee with a golem, and keep healing him (potions, spells, everything you have). Eventually the retaliation damage will kill the golem. (This is a pretty desperate tactics though, only useful if your party really doesn't have any other way or suitable weapons to fight a golem. And it only works with a STRONG healing back-up.)

    Hope it helps.

thats one more thing i havent realized yet, whats the diffrence between let us say bastard sword+1 2D4 +1 and two handed sword 1D10, what does the 1 and 2 stands for before the "D". ive know the part how to identify items atleast :)
somehow i lose my mage's all the time so im a group of 5 almost all the time wich
make it abit harder il guess, is edwin the best mage ( is he even a mage? )

    regards max

D means dice. So for 2d4, you throw two dices with 4 fecets. Each dice can come between 1-4 damage, so total damage is 2-8.

As for 1d10, you throw 1 dice with 10 fecets. The result varies from 1 to 10.

A fireball does 1d6 damage per caster level. So a lvl 10 mage's fireball will do 10d6, which means 10-60 points of fire damage. (save vs spell halves)

Weapons with a plus are enchanted. An +1 weapon has +1 to hit bonus and +1 damage bonus. Also they are faster, with lower speed factor. Speed factor is the amount of time required to ready the weapon for an attack, so lower, the better. Also some magical creatures can only be harmed by magical wapons of certain enchantment of better.

THAC0+1 is the attack bonus and it means it's easier for the wielder to hit the target with this weapon. +1 damage means you add +1 to final damage. So a +1 bastard sword does 3-9 dmg, instead of regular 2-8. Ofcourse, this is only base dmg potential: high STR, weapon specialisation and other factors add up the damage too, so you actually end up doing way more damage.

Yes, Edwin is the best mage. His unremovable amulet grants him +2 spells every level, all the way up to Level 9. He is also the only character who can cast Level 9 spells without needing Int upgrades.

The three evil characters in the game tend to be the best at what they do.

I assume you mean that Edwin is the only mage who can learn level 9 spells without buffing?

No mages in BG2 needs INT upgrades to cast level 9 spells.

I envy this guy. I'd love to be able to start BG2 again without knowing any of it.
