I used to play a custom class in Morrowind, in which my character was unarmored. At higher levels, I had better AC with my Unarmored skill than with either both Heavy or Light armor.

I want to do the same class for Oblivion, but I see there is no unarmored skill in Ob.

So, what are my options for an unarmored char in Ob?

The simplest would be to download an Unarmoured mod, like this. Looks a little overpowered, though.

Hmmmmm... I have a few Transcendent Sigil stoned that grant a 20% Shield... would that do the trick?

In Oblivion, even spells of "Fire Shield" grant an armor bonus (as well as elemental bonus), so getting a few "Shield" spells might be what you'll need. I don't know how you feel about "Bound" spells, but you can "bound" armor to yourself as well. At least playing this type of character, you save yourself a "tag skill" at the beginning.

IIsn't bound armor considered Light Armor?

Anyway, I've enchanted a Mythic Dawn robe, hood and a ring with Fire, frost and shock shields to patch up the Altmer's 25% weakness to elemental damage, and I got a nifty AC bonus too. (Altmer + Atronach birthsign = One badass Assassin)

My other ring gives Night-Eye and my amulet gives me a sick 180ft Life Detection.

Oh, I exploited the reverse pickpocketing bound items glitch in the game and I now have permanant bound armor and weapons. I just enchanted two rings and an amulet with Elemental Shield spells since that Black Hand robe and hood just are too sick not to use - +15 to ALL my essential skills!
