    Remind me about this game:

Do they move at the speed of BGI or BGII characters?

    TIA

You can set the speed yourself in the configuration.

lets rephrase that, you can set game speed in the configuration...if you want to move faster...spells cast faster and enemies plot/plan/maul faster too so keep that in mind

True. But it looks really silly, and it makes it hard to click on targets, even for dialog, when they are flitting about all the time .... If you're in a big battle with lots of spells going off, the speed slows down unexpectedly, and makes it nearly impossible to target in real-time. Auto-pause and the pause button are musts, for me anyways...

For me the faster speeds had more problems than benefits...

If you have the expansion, the characters have new spiffy and beautiful avatars of BG2 and move like in BG2, not painfully slow like back in BG1.

Agreed. I only run in a faster speed in IWD2 when i play a solo monk (takes soooo long to beat things to death early on...) I dont try to run the others at faster speeds anymore...too much hassle

Hmm, I haven't run any of the games on less than the max (60 frames) since I stopped playing on my old laptop with 32mb ram back in 2000. If I have 3 or less characters i nthe group, I generally don't need to use pause in most combats. I just can't stand all the slow moving, and the "waiting" inbetween each strike is all to noticable allready on the highest speed for me.

I'm getting super smooth framerates now with spells going off since I turned on in the configuration tool, OpenGL 3D hardware acceleration (and the second higher resolution option, it turns out). I also reset the display settings in windows to maximum hw acceleration (under troubleshooting). I had these settings in place for Torment, and they now apparently aren't needed for IWD.

So now it looks very feasible to increase the framerate, which I will try next. Of course, the frenetic animations will still be odd. :)
