At my work, we get a voucher ($20, $30 or $40, depending on whether we are Casual, Part-Time or Full-Time staff) to spend either at the bar on take-away alcohol or at the butcher shop the Club owns to buy a ham.* That's it.* Although throughout the year and part-time or full-time staff get paid for ALL public holidays even if we don't work or the Club is closed - though we are only closed 2 days of the year, Good Friday and Christmas Day

And Stu, Ive recently read somewhere that the term "boxing day" apparently actually refers to the practice of placing money in church boxes to aid the poor, anyway, I guess that covers both?

I got a nice bonus, which is basically equals almost two weeks pay, and a big honeybaked ham. Very nice actually.

This may be my craziest Christmas ever, and I don't wish it on anyone. I'm leaving my company one month before Christmas bonuses come out...But the upside is I'm starting with a new company on January 2nd with a nice promotion and increase in play. The downside is I have to sell or rent my current house, pack, move 120 miles, find a new house, unpack, and start all over again. Way too much stress to pack in with the holidays!

Since I am self-employed I don't get a Christmas bonus unless I pay for it myself. ;) When I did work for the Danish branch of a (mid-size American) company, Christmas gifts were usually modest. In 2001 they were cancelled, world-wide, due to the bleak situation in the business (translation is notoriously sensitive to the general market - when companies aren't making money, translation services is one of the first things they will do without).

Also, in Denmark any gifts over IIRC 300 Danish kroner (about 40 Euro - the amount may have changed) are taxable, as are cash gifts regardless of amount.

    Tee-hee! :shake:

My company gives quarterly bonuses, dependant on corporate profits. No bonuses at Christmas. I did git a jar of nuts (cashews -- which are nice).
