I have a nasty bout of bronchitis and I'm bored to death. I'm really tired of sleeping all day and of drinking herbal tea and soup and I'm looking for a game to play but I believe that I'm stuck.

Games that require reflexes and quick reaction are out. No way I move that mouse fast enough when I'm sneezing and hitting the pause button every other second is a real pain (I'd love to continue my GTA San Andreas game but no).

Games that require concentration and the use of one's brains (or what's left of them) are out too. If I start computing resources in civ IV or plan for my next battle in Homm V, my head will most certainly burst.

I thought about good old games I know by heart (like fallout or BG) but it's not like I can get a real thrill out of them (and given my general condition a mild thrill wouldn't hurt). I still have my evil BG2 run through to complete (been on stand by for a while) but I'd need to take notes and organize my screenshots and right now I can't be bothered.

Conclusion? Being  sucks, you can't work and you can't play either (it's even worse than that actually since you get behind in your work).

Any suggestions? I might just run Morrowind and stare idly at the rain falling and at the sun setting. Now I'm rambling again...

Bronchitis? That's it?!?! Geeze...try having asthma, bronchitis, and a mild case of pneumonia all at the same time, and then having to be rushed to the ER because the various drugs caused an allergic reaction. :bang:

As for games, I usually play my GameBoy Advanced so I can actually stay in bed. Movies are a great time waster too. :thumb: :rolling:

Yeah, well, sure, I can't complain, but you know it's rather annoying as it is.

Watching movies and reading get old quite fast. Besides I found out I can't read for too long.

Well, time for another bowl of soup...

It's rare that I'm so sick I'm stuck in bed (usually that puts me in a hospital), but I have 4 hand-held games (Yahtzee, solitaire, Connect 4 and poker) and books to read. Sometimes I drag all the DnD stuff with me and roll up characters. My friends take their laptops to bed.

Try an RPG! Those are like a book, which you probably already know. And what's the best when you're coughing, sneezing and your every sinus feels like you're already on morphine? ;) Books! Or RPGs, hehe.

Another idea could perhaps be a merry ride in a car game, using a wheel.

That or maybe watch a film or two instead of games? No game equals a good Kurosawa piece. ;)

Watching an old Newman movie now. Not thrilled actually. Don't feel up to a car game.

Hmm... Something nostalgic and neither very taxing nor finger-intense? I'd say one of the old games. Perhaps some abandonware. Something cheerful... don't know, a pizza/restaurant/park/whatever sim?

Stuff like Free Cell or other time wasting games that come with windows might kill some time for you. I don't know of any that would function as a sleeping medication that they give to insomniacs that don't respond to strong drugs...

Online puzzles of varied difficulty. It'll be something different, at least. I like doing them while I'm at work.

I actually have to agree with BA on this one. RCT is the perfect time waster that requires no quick action... Unless you start dropping people in the water...or removing a piece of track on purpose. :rolling:

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll give them a try. Puzzles are a bit too unnerving for me just now, but I'll try and look through my old games. Making them work on my laptop with vista might just be as tough as any puzzle you can find on the net.

Thanks, I'm feeling better. Today I started a civ IV game (at a low difficulty level) and although I didn't micromanage much I'm in the lead. Still it's been a rather peaceful game (and it's rather weird since I play the vikings). Furthermore the music is soothing and there isn't too much hassle when you play at chieftain level. ;)

part of the reason i never upgreaded from XP Pro, too many of my favourite games seem to not work on vista for some odd reason, i cant fathom.
