I'm sure it's not a new idea, but has anyone gone through the game with them as the Bhaalspawn PC? I mean, race and stats that are related to how you see yourself in real life, choosing a class that would be suited to you, choosing alignment and dialogue options as you would do yourself (instead of metagaming, "oh if I just say this and get x amount of xp and/or item"). I'm doing just this, starting with BG1 (tutu) going through to the end of ToB. I think it could be quite fun.

Here is me (slightly touched up photo included for effect, lol)

My stats are as I see how I am, with one or two touch-ons for being Bhaalspawn (you can argue with this...I think it's realistic and useful :p haha). I'm not very strong, but I'm not totally weak either: 12STR. I think I have good reflexes, nimbleness and am sure-footed: 18DEX. I am rarely ill and I make light of injuries: 16CON. I personally think I am quite an intellectual with a good-working, logical mind: 18INT. I am sensible, use common sense and judgement and think before I act: 17WIS. However, I lack social skills and have little influence over a group: 8CHA.
I took cleric/mage for three reasons. The first is just because I'm a fan of multi'ing, and as a person, I don't like to specialise in areas of interest: I like to get good knowledge and experience in a variety of things. Also, I see myself as being more defensive than aggressive, sooner to Mirror Image than fire an arrow :p Finally, it seemed a wise choice related to my ability scores: playing to my strengths.

Any opinions on this or similar experiences?

I once tried to play the game and roleplay myself. But i din't go as far as you, I just picked dialog options acording to what I would have done in that situation.
The aligment i picked that time was true neutral because i see myself as a busniessman and a quite profit minded person.
For example; I complain about a law thats making me pay taxes but if a law benefits me I like it.

I can only say good luck and that I really enjoyed it when played as myself (kind of).

Thanks :) Yes, it's similar to what you did (and what I've done before), but just going that bit further.
Also, I'm doing BG1 WITH TotSC for the first time ever, and have only been through BG1 with TuTu once (a year ago), so it'll without doubt be a great run through I'm sure :)

Never tried it, though I've been meaning to for a while. I guess my (perhaps optimistic) stats would be similar to something like this:

    Strength - 13/14
    Dexterity - 16/17
    Constitution - 14/15
    Intelligence - 15/16
    Wisdom -14/15
    Charisma - 12/13

I'm not sure how accurate this would be- the way D&D stats work, I'd probably look absolutely excellent as they have a hard time showing my (many) flaws. Charisma was a tough one- I make a good initial impression and am a good leader, but don't talk all that much and have few close friends.

Strength - 12 My arms are tuned for least possible weigth.
    Dexterity - 14 I'm quite clumsy
Constitution - 17 because of sports I got a decent physique
Intelligence - 18 I did graduate from college
Wisdom - 14 I got some common sense but not that much. But however I judge everybode else.
Charisma - 16 People tend to like my ideas and I got a bunch of close friends.

I tried to get through the game as myself once, and had a fun time until I found myself in the latter part of ToB. None of the choices there were any I would have made myself.

He was a Blade simply because if life were D&dD I would be a cross between a bard, a monk and a kensai. (A contemplative, unbiased, bard-type character with who believes that pefection also involves physical training and has a weakness for weapons and likes to dual-wield. I can live without Offensive and Defensive Spin)
    Neutral Good, with the stats:
12 Str (not too strong), 12 Dex (not too nimble either), 14 Con (I like to keep myself fit and am used to physical hardship), 15 Int and Wis (not too bright but at least I'm good enough to be considered "bright" and years of living where I am can sharpen your wit), and 16 Char (I value my solitude, yet I find myself easily able to socialize and work with others - whether or not they shared my hobbies or interests - and I can work toward that end to make a few solid bonds if I really wanted to).

Anyway, I ended up finishing the game with Nalia, Aerie, Immy, Minsc and Jaheira, although every other joinable NPC in the game was in my party at some point.

I've considered doing just that but then realized how much my stats would suck :p
Alough I almost always choose the dialouge options that most correspond with my personality so in a way I always play myself regardless of the race and class of my character.

That's a good looking portrait you've got. Any chances of it being available for a download? :)

Good lord, some people have an amazing view of their attributes. Does anyone understand that the attributes are a bell curve and 18 in anything is so completely extraordinary as to defy belief? For example, if you claim an 18 dexterity, you are basically saying that you could be an olympic gymnast or something similar. An 18 intelligence is Stephen Hawking.

Even 12 or 13 is better than most people. Just based on the bell curve generated by the dice rolling (and ignoring statistical population issues and standard deviations), 12 is 77th percentile, 13 is 85th percentile, 14 is 92nd percentile, 15 is 96th percentile, 16 is 98th percentile, and 17 is 99.6th percentile. Even if you want to knock them down, if you're claiming an 18 in anything, chances are we've read about you in the news somewhere.

Anyway, rant over. It's a good idea and I had the best time playing my very pedestrian bard based on a top score of 15 based loosely on myself.

STR 14 (based on max weight lifting; I think it's the farm genes from my dad.)
DEX 18 (yes, I could be a gymnast; you wouldn't believe some of the stuff I've done)
CON 7/9 (decent, with good resistance to everything but sinus infections)
INT 17 (tested in the 99th percentile on raw intelligence)
WIS 8 (don't always use it well :shake: Personally, I think it's lower than 8, possibly a dump stat, but other people assure me that it's not. :skeptic: )
CHA 12/16 (I try to make myself look like crap -that's the 12- to avoid being hit on -by both sexes  - and it still doesn't work! )

No, 18 INT is my uncle (knowing 7 languages puts you at 18+). Stephen Hawking is what, at least 45 years old by now? I'd put his INT at 19, and his WIS at 19 or 20 (age adjustments to stats). Smarts aren't just INT; raw intelligence doesn't make you insightful. WIS can supplement INT, or impede it, depending on its level. And for the mental stats, 18 isn't the limit if you're over 45.
Not without ambition & the chance to actually make a difference. Even if I could change the world, I wouldn't; I guess I'm selfish that way. Part of it is the fear that whatever I do, I would screw up somehow and end up making things worse instead of better, and part of it is simply not wanting to help the great multitude of people who don't deserve it.

And then there are people - very smart people - who are never given even the slightest chance to do a bit of good. Jo, the smartest girl I've ever met, could probably become the greatest diplomat you've ever seen. But it'll never happen because of the family she was born into. Scholarships go to rich people nowadays. :grr:

This is the silliest thing exercise ever, but I'd be:

    Strength 10 (average)
Dexterity 8 (below average hand eye coordination)
    Constitution 10
Intelligence 12 (Surely I'm above average)
Wisdom 10 (I'm a bit wise, but not sure I'd have huge Will saves)
Charisma 8 (not the life and soul of the party, but people don't run away from me screaming either)

In short, I would never play me as a character because I'd be toast.

Most of the time I play this game I make decisions based on me and my mood during the day, (indirectly that is). basically I'll translate my mood to my characters, he'll make mistakes and the mood will definately worsen (or get better eh?), but yea. Only once did I actually create myself and that was in NWN as well.

    Err...based on myself? Lets see...

Strength 5/6 (hahaha...that may still be a little too high...)
Dexterity 11/12-ish? (Better than most people I know...yet still klutzy somehow...)
    Constitution 3/4 (hahaha...no comment -_-; ;)
    Intelligence 12
    Wisdom 11
Charisma 15/16 (I'm good at making new friends easily :D If I'm not intimidated first, that is...)

Although my wisdom and intelligence should probably be lower since I do some pretty dumb things sometimes. :hahaerr:
Wow. My stats are really bad... :hahaerr:

There was a quiz somewhere, which made your stats after a few questions. I remember I had the atributes perfect for a Cleric/Mage or maybe a Bard.

That is interesting. I found it a AD&D stats calculator test via google, and answered the questions, and now here is my stats:

STR-7 (this is really true, for some reason my arms are so weak, my girlfriends used to beat me in arms-wrestling fair and square, poor me, woe is me.)

DEX-11 (I guess, I am no athlet, but I sure am not very clumsy)

CON-6 (YUCK. I get caught cold and other diseases rather easily, and I just do not have enough stamina or resistance to pain, I guess...)

INT-13 (this test only uses your degree of school. Well, I am now high school graduate, but I am attending a medical school, and I think I am not that stupid. Why, I am good at learning languages and new things. I think this should be higher.)

WIS-12 (OK, I guess this is right. Sometimes I can be really childish, while sometimes I do make right decisions, just not all the time)

CHA-13 (I like talking to people and making new friends, and I love arguing with people and persuading/bending them to my way. I guess this is OK.)

Mm it seems I would be an extremely sucky AD&D character, much less a Bhaalspawn. :p Maybe I will play one day with these stats, just, what class is most suitable for me? I do not know. :shake:

Wanna try yourself and see your real stats? Try it! It is fun! I guess you can beat mine easily!

    From the quiz:
    STR 13
DEX 17 (To be fair, I've never bothered trying to juggle four or more balls. So I may very well be able to do it.)
    CON 9
INT 15 (I'm not surprised there's a complaint disclaimer about this part.*)
    WIS 9
CHA 17 (I was trying to be humble, damn it! ;) )

*With the "will obtain" clause, it's measuring ambition (or patience with diminishing returns on the highest degrees) rather than intelligence. Not to mention that there are only seven options to represent 16 values, and having tested it, there isn't even an possibility for 18. Only 4, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, & 17.

^That is cool, Felinoid, you can easily be a cool bard, a daring thief, a charming Enchanter mage, hmm, but sorry you can not be a paladin, your CON is not enough. :shake:

There are also lots of alignment and class tests, I ended up being NG with some tendency to chaos, but I can not find the test now, but I guess everybody has done it by now or at least has a general idea of his/her own alignment.

As for your INT disclaimer, I noticed that too, you can not have a 18 INT with this test, though you can always use IQ tests and check your percentage. Now if only I could remember my result, it was higher than 130, I guess? :p silly me, that was years ago, and I do not have the patience nor the will to do an IQ test again...

LMAO. A CN paladin would definitely be a first. :shake: But while I do meet the CON requirement (only 9), I don't meet the WIS requirement (13).
Indeed. Which is why I stand by the results of my previous test for my INT score rather than this...somewhat lacking one. And the rest are all within one point of my estimation, so I'll have to decide which I like better. Probably a revised estimate of...

    STR 13
    DEX 18
    CON 8
    INT 17
    WIS 9
    CHA 16
