    I know its possible, though not quite legit. You have to leave Yoshimo somewhere you will be able to find him and then go to spellhold, when you come back he'll die from the geas but should be able to be ressurected normally. this might not work due to a patch and Yoshimo will have missed out on all the exp from 2 whole chapters of the game which isn.t good but at least he'll live. :)

    There's a way I've seen posted/written, but I've not tried it.

    You have to do this before you enter spellhold the first time. Go into the town, and enter the bar. The important thing here is you have to get the 'gather your party' message (i.e. loads a new area). Immediately pause the game, kick Yoshi out, and tell him to wait right there. Then cruise out to spellhold. Before you leave with havaras (or the portal), go back to town and enter the bar. Just before the 'load' screen completes, hit the spacebar so the game pauses and the first possible instant. Now have the PC talk to yoshi, have him join the party. He'll die from the geas, and you can get him lifted at the temple. After that, he's just like always. I'm not sure what kind of bugs will occur from doing this, or if one of the patches has fixed this glitch.
