not sure where to put this so i put it here :)
would this laptop be ok for gaming or no? i basically play RPGs like BG, ID, diablo and the occasional starcraft. would this be ok for those type games? i guess the big question would be how good the video card is? i'm not very good at telling what is and what isn't a good video card :(

If all you intend to play on it are those old games, then it's more than good enough. Even for most of the newer titles.

For 599 a fair laptop. Old games like NWN should not pose a problem. NWN2 can become tricky. Mass effect you can forget, also shooters like Crysis.

The weakest part is the graphics card. The 1250 is an integrated chipset without its own memory, so it uses the 2 gig. And Vista craves memory like add addict. The step up to 1600 is big, since that card has its own memory. But alas, that will drive up the price.

The one thing that is easy to upgrade on a laptop is the memory. later you can upgrade it to 3 or 4. Upgrading the graphics card is almost impossible. The laptop must be taken apart for it.

If you want a gaming laptop, look for one with GeForce 8600 or Radeon 2600. That's not stellar, but it can run NWN2.
