[IMG] There are so many, so how do you know which one you get. Safana, Skie, Imoen, or Alora. And is the stereotype thief a female? Strangely, there are no pure male thieves.

BTW, how do you know if Eldoth or Garrick is better?

[IMG] Well, check out the NPC list at http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/npcs.php

That should help you decide. For the thief, I'd keep Imoen. Give her a short bow and don't dual class her and by the end of the game you'll have an excellent thief.

Thanks for the info..I read that on your site waaaay before I came to the boards, though.

But, what would compel one to take say...Safana...over the childhood friend Imoen? Is it that only their history matters?

Well I imagine if you got her killed or didn't like her for some reason you would need a replacement. ;)

[IMG] I'd recommend Alora - she's cute and probably the best thief you can find in BG-1 - she has high dex of 19 and she's halfling = excellent thieving abilities :) I would have really liked to see her as an NPC in BG-2 as well (and since she wasn't there I imported her :D ;) )

Not really that many cause you won't get skie or aloreth till you get acess you Baldur's Gate. Really wish Imoen had better strength(for backstabs of course)...but other than that she's a good theif.

True, you need to go to Baldur's gate to get Alora - anyway, she is without any doubt the *best* thief in BG-1. So it may be worth to wait and take Coran or Imoen in the meanwhile ...
And finally you could be daring and rush towards Baldur's Gate to do the eploration later.
