Tastes differ. A lot of people in my school don't game at all, and those who do stick to the mindless killinggames. (Well, and then I stumbled across Master of Nuhn, a gift from above. Bless ya! ;) ) If you want to hang out with people who have similar tastes in games, try finding them in computer stores, local geekshops (like comicbookshops, places where they sell the DnD handbooks and the like. Basically any place with Warhammer 40k will do  )

Expect this post to be moved to another forum by the mods, because it's not about IWD2.

Mate, hate to break it to you but RPG's aren't popular in Australia full stop. No one at my school is into RPG's much though I have brough one or two into the goodness of it all. Almost a complete failure in the PnP area though

I don't know of any place in the world where RPG games are a broad genre, with mass appeal and all, except possibly Japan... I have one friend who understand RPGs, the rest of them get bored within 10 minutes. It's their loss, really.. And I don't think playing RPGs on the computer is a social thing.. I mean, in a sports or an action game you can sit around with a few friends and take turns... I wouldn't want to do that with BG2 or a game like that, I prefer playing alone.

diablo's not crappy.. just not as good as other RPG's. None of my friends are into RPG's either, which is good because i can play with people who do like them over the internet and footie and "mindless killing" games with my mates (perfect balance :p )

[IMG] In our school? All I know of are Frosty and I, I don't think Teeny is really that into them but gives them a go anyway. Then again... girls school. All they are interested in is flame-throwers, boys and make-up

I don't even consider the diablos an RPG. Hack'n'slash or Action Adventure. Never going to be an RPG in my book. A turkey can never swore with the eagles.

[IMG] I happen to have the same problem.

I've never met anyone who would know what AD&D is.
The only exeption is a schoolmate who's the only one who even knows and has played Baldur's Gate 2.
Now i've finaly convinced a friend to try BG2. Of course i kept telling them for the last year and a half what a great game that is. The problem is he's a complete newbie and is stuck with TorGall on minimum difficulty. He complains about great damage the troll inflicts. Even 10 damage per hit!!!
So its pretty tough on newbies.

And its so easy to overlook a great but graphicaly not very attractive game using infinity engine.

I remember from the time i hat that magasine PCGamer. And somwhere in it (i think it was E3 report) i found a whole page dedicated to BG2. One big picture and loadful of text. I just looked at it and sighted: Why do they spend a whole page on such a game???
Couldt they rather give some info about AoE expansion insted???
    Stupid gitts.

And i would never know... :(

i am the only person i know in real life who play PC games (any kind). No kidding. People i know just don't touch any game. It has been hard, but then i learn how to navigate myself among all these gaming forums. World is small when you have internet.

Most people I know have read LotR, but that's as far as it goes. I tried to get my friends to play BG, didn't turn out great. The english and the 'difficulty' put them off.
