Hmm...Just as I was about to create my Half-Orc Shaman (Druid), I was thwarted. Gruumsh One-Eye is missing from the NWN-II pantheon.
Did Gruumsh suddenly die in a Forgotten Realms Storyline somewhere that I don't know about whilst NWN-II was being made? Or did Obsidian 'accidently' leave out one of the more prominant Gods from FR? I mean...C'mon; Istishia? Lurue? But no Gruumsh? What the...!?

Only a limited set of deities allow druids to worship them and it would appear Gruumsh isn't one of them.

If you choose any other character class for a half-orc then Gruumsh appears near the top of the deity list.

Ahh...There we go. How'd I miss that? It seems that only certain races get to choose certain God/esses. And only Half-Orcs get to pick Orcish God/esses...I don't know why, but that's how it goes.

But, what I found was weird, that there aren't any 'Orcish' Druidic Gods, well, there are, but NWN-II doesn't let you pick them. Either that, or the equivalent of 'Shaman' is Cleric and not Druid. Hmm...I can't even pick Luthic. Errrgh...

It is a bit messed up. Only Drow get most of the Underdark gods (I wanted to play a Deep Gnome who worshiped the god of oozes). Thing is, the god you choose has no affect on the game at all.

Yeah, I get that it has no 'gameplay value' at all. It's purely for a roleplaying perspective.

Well there's one God who has a very minor impact on the events in West Harbor. I'll leave you to guess who it might be ;)

I've tested it and Brother Mehring's lines don't differ in the Prologue if you're a Lathanderite. ;)

    No it is Lathander.

My latest Character is a Cleric of Lathander with Devout background. I got extra conversation lines with Brother Merring at the brawl and also when I departed West Harbor in Chapter 1. He also gave me something for the journey.

I havn't got as far as Blacklake yet so I don't know if it makes any differences in the the Church of Lathander.

It doesn't seem to have changed anything at the Temple of Lathander for my Neutral Good Fighter.
