There is no answer to your question I think. I had lot's of fun with characters, but you just need to be original to keep having fun.... At the moment, I would go for a bard :)

I had a lot of fun in the past with my 4 persons Thief Only Party (some here might remember it :p ) wich contained a fighter/thief (Elf, LS/LB), pure thief (Elf, SS/SB) / cleric thief (Gnome, WH/CB) and an Illusionist/Thief (Gnome, Dg/Sl). I played them through BG1 and 2.

Easy avoiding low level monsters when you can all hide in shadows ;D

I usually play with a Half-Elf Bard for Melee. It's weird because the only reason why I use a Bard is to melee because I don't know what the Bard Song does and I find the spells useless.

I love the bard. They're so cool. I also luv pickpocketing everyone with the bard.

I also share a love for Dwarven Fighter/Clerics. Well, F/C's in general, but Dwarves because they make far and above the best race for them statistics-wise :p

Fighter/Mages of any kind (predominantly Elven or Half-Elven, on the wavelength there, Western Paladin) also appeal to me a great deal, enough that my signature character should adopt the class. Probably my overall favourite.

Cleric/Mages are pretty awesome because I have a love for magic, and these guys have next to no restrictions with the amount of fiddling you can do with all your spells. Plus they need very high intelligence and wisdom as a given, and this tends to have the side-effect of giving you a very high lore! Even though you have Identify, this is a nifty side-effect. I would like Gnomish Cleric/Illusionists, but they cannot use Necromancy and this is an absolute WRITE-OFF in my books because it means no Skull Traps and, inevitably, no Horrid Wilting.

Lastly I like to play (mostly half-elven) Fighter/Thieves. Screw all the other stats, pimp out Hide in Shadows 'til you never fail, then either go for lockpicking or traps. Nothing beats being able to vanish into the shadows at a whim, only to reappear behind your enemy's corpse-in-the-making, a sly grin on your face, eh.

I guess I like a lot of different classes. Hell, I also like Paladins, because of the whole "holy knight in shining armour with a two-handed sword smiting evil" kind of thing. If you didn't get your... abilities, nor the sickening amount of strength-boosting equipment in the sequels, then their ability to cast Draw Upon Holy Might alone would have beholden them to me, not to mention all their innate abilities (I consider a high natural charisma one of these).

Plus, when I think about it, Paladin is really the best class, or at least very interesting, for a protagonist, story-wise. ...Heck, I really do like a lot of classes eh?

    Crpgs

    1. Human Fighter clas dualled to Mage or Sorcerer
    2. Dwarf fighter/thief
    3. Elf Mage/thief or Sorcerer/thief or sorcerer/Cleric

    Rpgs (now)
    1. Human Sorcerer/cleric/dragon disciple
    2. Elven Druid/Sorcerer/Ranger/dragon disciple

    Rpgs (old)
    1. Half-elven F/M/T or F/M/C
    2. Elven (drow) Assassin/Cleric

The most fun character I ever had was a lawful good cleric who started life full of himself etc etc and then developed a mild case of lycanthropy (weretiger); and he became extremely paranoid and schizophrenic and I had great fun portraying until he lost an argument with a black dragon. Unfortunately the rest of the party sensibly ran away and i never had the chance to resurrect him.

Yep, Lost Meme... them half-elves is good eatin'. Not as fatty as a full human, but not nearly so stringy as an elf.

For eating, I prefer halflings. Whether they're cooked, turned on spit or squashed into jelly, they taste much better than half-elves.

Hmm... I actually love playing rogues, halflings or humans, any time. BG, NWN, P&P, whatever goes!

I also like playing fighters. Because they kick ass. Literally.

And if it's ToB, sorcerer all the way (6 ninth level spells? You can't beat that...)

Too difficult to catch, and not enough meat. "Hardly more than a mouthful", indeed. Now, young dwarf is pretty good; they tend to be well-marbled, rich in flavor, and nice and slow. The older ones just take too much chewing... or you have to boil them, which destroys the flavor.

Human Ranger named Terran (of the Wandering Few). Modeled after a 14th level Ranger I played before you could play on a compter. I got through BG ToSC the first time before I even knew you could cheat. I took me 14 tries to get past that stupid mage on the steps to Friendly Arms, but when I finished he really kicked butt.

In Table Top. I tended to play Rangers, Necromancers, or Diviners. Rangers are the only ones that make out good in BG1 for me though.

I have had fun with several of the classes though. particularly my Dwarven fighter. high strength and high con and he's just horribly viscious with an axe.
