Pick an excerpt from a songtext that might do for your motto in life. Not a whole song.

In my case, I try to be optimistic and face troubles with help from God. I felt rather comfortable with a little Coldplay:

"Don't ever say you're on your way down when
God gave you style and gave you grace
and put a smile upon your face"

Tell Me (Remix) Bobby Valentino ft Lil Wayne

"Hey slide over here and talk to the boy
What are you drinking? I'ma buy the bar
I was just thinking of seeing you tomorrow
Waking up with no panties, no bra
I ain't being nasty, I'm just being for real
Let me take off my belt and give you the whip appeal
Yeah you hear about what I do in the streets
But you gon' love what I do in the sheets"

Daaaaamn! That is sooOooOo me! Through an through! :D

I always felt this song was written directly about me

    The fool escaped from paradise
Will look over his shoulder and cry
Sit and chew on daffodils and struggle to answer "Why?"
As you grow up and leave the playground
Where you kissed your prince and found your frog
Remember the jester that showed you tears, the script for tears

So I'll hold our peace forever when you wear your bridal gown
In the silence of my shame the mute that sang the sirens' song
Has gone solo in the game
I've gone solo in the game, but the game is over

Can you still say you love me
Can you still say you love me
Can you still say that you love me
    Do you love me
    Do you love me
    Do you love me
Do you love me, the jester's tear

    Slayer - New Faith

"Welcome to the horror of the revelation
Tell me what you think of your savior now
I reject all the biblical views of the truth
Dismiss it as the folklore of the times
I won't be force fed prophecies
From a book of untruths for the weakest mind
Join the new faith for the celebration
Cult of new faith fuels the devastation"

    Megadeth - The Scorpion

Those basically mean I'll be your friend until you piss me off, after which you fall into my black list, and feel the burning fire of my retribution. They also picture my occasional selfishness and carelessness of others.

My lyrics always used to be:

"I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, for sinners are much fun, and only the good die young." (Billy Joel)

But I don't think that describes me now, so I'll have to find something else.

Well, I would say: Megadeth - 5 Magics
But that's just wishfull thinking... :hahaerr:

Now that a I think about it...I don't know of any song's lyrics that could be considered my 'device'. It would have to be a song about the desenitized world and how no one gives a damn about anything. :bad:

Hey! I'm always saying 'I'd rather rule in hell than serve in heaven'...but those Billy Joel lyrics sound even better! Mind if I steal them? :rolling:

Kitrax - feel free! Billy Joel writes his own lyrics (and plays the piano) so he must be OK.

And, seeing as I am here at work on Good Friday, no less, my life feels like it could be summed up by this from Cat Stevens:

"Matthew & Son, the work's never done, there's always something new.
The files in your head, you take them to bed, you're never ever through.
And they've been working all day, all day, all day!"

Hope I die before I get old.

Of course, I mean "old as I feel", not "old as I am". :)

    Elementary penguin singing Hare Krishna
Man you should have seen them kicking Edgar Alan Poe
