What class\race\alignment to you tend to place most?

Another question to satisfy my curiousity...

Do you have certain classes\races\alignments that you tend to play more than others?

My first RPG experiences were with Ultima 4 (where Human and Lawful Good are pretty much the default choices). I usually played a Ranger or Paladin (with the occasional Druid) depending on how the intro question game led me.

After that, in most games, the "lead" character I play has usually been a Human Ranger or Paladin, Lawful or Neutral Good.

Since I stared playing NWN (and playing multiple mods at the same time) I've started to branch out into other classes and alignments.

I've also started playing a few more races (elves, half-elves, and various Elf\Half-Elf subraces), but for some reason I still have trouble getting into playing some of the other races: Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings, and Half-Orcs.

For some reason, I have trouble really getting "inside" these races...but I'm slowly trying them out. I'm just starting a new Gnome Illusionist, so who knows...

Anyways, back to my question; are there certain races\classes\alignments you play more than others? Or are there some you NEVER play?

    Thanks!

    -D

I prefer good parties. I like being a hero versus a villian.

My Avatar was always a paladin in Ultima. Although I often play as a female protagonist -- just a preference choice, I'd rather look at a picture of a woman than a man.

In D&D environments I can never seem to play consistently evil -- I always try for the heroic instead of selfish. Edwin does not like that. But the evil characters in Baldur's Gate (and SoA, and ToB...) all have the best lines and character threads. So I just have evil npc's and they get pissed at my occasional heroics. I really enjoy playing thieves, but they can be neutral or chaotic good (Robin Hood types).

In 3rd(/.5) edition, a neutral good human barbarian/thief.
In 2nd edition, a true neutral thief, elf or halfling.

There's just something about thieves. :shake:

I like a Chaotic Good type. A good guy but throw out the rule book.

I like to have characters that can do a little of every thing...

LE Fighter who has a propensity for racism. Traditionally evil races (namely the drow and tieflings) have a nasty tendency for dying in his company for nothing more then the fact they where born into the wrong race. There's always something interesting about trying to create justifications for all the actions you take that are evil while maintaining the belief that you're actually a heroic and noble figure.

"W-Why did you kill the cleric of Eilistraee?"

"The drow are creatures of inherent evil, they have to be destroyed."

Mind you, then you have to justify why all those characters with a good alignment aren't going about things in the proper fashion and bigger justifications about how these good characters are wrong when they come after you for your evil.

    Neutral Evil Elf.

I ALWAYS play a rude, selfish bastard, like me.

As far as classes go I'm usually a Wizard (generalist) or Sorcerer. I've played a few warlocks but never got really interested in them as a class.

Thats not to say I dont play as a Fighter or or cleric or other such class, but I generally play arcane classes over others.

In Ultima Underworld, I always played a shepherd because they have the most flexibility when choosing skills so it's easier to power game. In the other Ultima's, I pick something that can fight well and use magic... which is usually a paladin. Similarly for other RPG's, I want a character that can survive in melee and cast magic, so I tend to pick good-aligned clerics. I think that is partly due to my personality: I don't want to be the front line leader, but I do want to have the armour to survive and play an important supporting role.

I tend to play Wizards or Rogues mostly, using either human or elven characters of any alignment but Chaotic Evil.

They must all be brown haired and green-eyed, though. The only exception are the Dumner in Oblivion. :p

LG human paladin, though I've been experimenting with Aasimar and been thinking about half-elf. Stats differ sometimes, though that's mostly the difference between total CHA reliance and some INT reliance for the kicks of having a geeky paladin.
