I was thinking of re-installing NWN (which I haven't touched in 2 years) and getting a few interesting modules to play. Browsing through NWVault I found 2 modules that are billed as remakes of Ultima 4. Now I love the old Ultima games, and Ultima 4 is one of my favourite RPGs. The modules are Ultima 4 Reborn and Avatarship. The latter seems to be a more complete remake, with its own hak pack and music (which seems to be "real" Ultima music). However, several users have mentioned stability issues and bugs. Has anyone played either module and has comments to share?

Yeah, from what I heard it wasn't too brilliant (although I have never played Ultima 4) - I think the developers left without doing a good bug squashing spree. But still, there's never harm in trying it, I guess. It's a fairly old mod, isn't it?

Both modules have a 2003 date, so they are quite old. Avatarship has a "normal" version and another one that requires SoU, so its last update must have been before HotU's release.

The mods don`t look like Ultima 4 either. Its Ultima, in name only. Try the remake of ultima 5 instead. Ultima 5 Lazarus I belive its called. was awsomme.

I did end up trying both of them, each for a very brief time. Rawgrim was right, they're Ultima in name only. Avatarship at least tries to get the same feel by using custom hakpaks and music, but the conversation system in it is terrible and the whole thing just didn't play very well. I've given up on these mods and am instead thinking of getting Dungeon Siege so I can play Lazarus.
