Humans are a dying minority on Etchnith. Many being unfit to survive the climate even with developed technology and crafts from historic times. Humans however are an alien race on Etchnith, arriving thousands of years ago from a neighbouring planet in the ideal hope they could discover more about the barren land. Unfortunately the trip was deemed a failure after contact was lost and no rescue was ever sent.

Humans are often prey to Carayan, another bipedal race that is quite misshappen with a loping gait and large eyes, their noses are broad and mouths are small yet their eyes are enormous in comparison. They are larger than humans and have a thick silky coat which has an oil over it to prevent rains and snow freezing against them. Carayans are strictly carnivorous and have been known to turn to cannibalism in desperate situations.

In contrast there are also the Himayan Which are similar at first glance to the Carayan, they are more slender however with thicker coats, smaller features and a tendancy to give plants a go if there aren't any animals to eat. They are a more curious race often harbouring straying humans or even travelling alongside them. There are even instances of mixed blood between them called Himulan.

In Etchnith races that have -ayan are considered pure, it means 'these people' races which are disgraced or have impure ancestry are referred to with -ulan which means 'not people' most natives will call humans: Humanulan, taking what people call themselves and adding their own suffix.
