    Greetings, all.

Since I started reading/posting on SP I've seen references to "Tutu". What is it and where can I download it? I'm kind of out of touch with anything BG--I've just recently started playing it again.

[IMG] Here's a brief description of Tutu from Sorcerer's Place:

BG1Tutu is a project which automatically converts the resources in a Baldur's Gate, or Baldur's Gate + TotSC install to the BGII engine, thus enabling you to play at higher resolutions and take advantage of numerous other improvements of BG2 over BG1.

It's actually available for download right here at SP, here is the link.

I actually have Tutu installed, and it is awesome. The improved IE engine and other changes in BG2 increase the enjoyment level of BG1 exponentially.

    Hope that helped a bit.

Tutu has also brought on a revival of modding for Baldur's Gate. The BG1 NPC project is for Tutu-only and adds a huge number of banters; two NPCs have been developed only for Tutu, and many BG mods are being built with Tutu-specific packages.

You can find out more about Tutu on its homepage (don't play without the fixpack), or the associated list of mods designed for Tutu.

    Thank you! :thumb:

Oh, one more thing--does it matter if the game is patched or not? Besides the above-mentioned fixpack, that is.

    Whee! New gem!

Yes, Baldur's Gate does need to be patched if I remember correctly, unless you have the 3-disk BG1 Compilation, which does not require a patch and comes with Tales of the Sword Coast.

    No problemo.

By the way, you might want to read some of the forum topics about installing Tutu, seemingly, it is a pain in the ass to install, although in retrospect it was quite simple.. The problem is that it's sort of counterintuitive, once it's installed, one just plays BG2 with a BG2 disc to play BG1 in Tutu.

[IMG] Here's another hint; pretty much all Tutu topics posted here get moved to the ToB forum, since they invariably contain material from BG2+ToB. This is to keep BG2 conversation away from the BG1 forum, as well as to have all Tutu topics in one place. So I'm also moving this post.
