Go watch Memento. It's as close to Torment as any movie is ever going to come.

Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential) plays Leonard Shelby, a man who can't form new memories since recieving a severe head injury. He got that when he tried to prevent the rape and murder of his wife, and now his looking for the one man who got away.

Very, very cool little flick also starring Carrie-Anne Moss and Joe Pantoliano from The Matrix.
It uses a neat way of telling the story by starting with the chronologically last scene first, and then going backwards, simulating the way Leonard experiences events.

    Watch it. It's worth it.
