    I agree. I did it and think same. I am a solo gamer but I don't like higher levels too. When soloing you gain lvls too fast... Though even at high levels Wild Mage is fun.

    ToB is not on-par with SoA, true, but it does have one pretty good area to explore: Watcher's Keep. In fact, once you are done with SoA, you might as well just finish playing the moment Demogorgon kicks the bucket. I usually can't bother to go through the menial (and cheating) bosses, especially Amelyssan.

    Truly, ToB is not a boring walk in the park with Ascension installed!

    Of course it isn't. With Ascension the bosses cheat like no tomorrow. Take the first battle as an example: how does infinite and instant teleport, no-miss arrows, knock-back/stun, chance to disintegrate, 10 attacks/round, and massive damage sound? Or immune-to-all-magic buff while being able to cast immune-to-all-physical? :rolleyes:

    I have a word for it: "Bad Quality."

    The battles in Ascension are hardly that cheesy, (some Tactics components are much more so) and all the battles prior to the final one (the actual "Ascension battle") are optional installs anyway.

    My point is even if you don't like the battles, Ascension also fixes bugs and introduces new content that enriches the ToB part of the game and makes it less monotonous and dull. If it wasn't for Ascension, most likely I'd stop playing after defeating Irenicus in the Abyss/Gehenna/whatever. Which certainly isn't to say that it's a flawless mod, there are some annoying bugs left that will hopefully be taken care of at some point.

    So yeah, I agree that unmodded ToB is pretty annoying.
