    The brass bell thundered down soundlessly
    Into the depths
    As if he still cared
    For although the air was burdened
    With dull lustful contempt
    He did not see

    Although the silver lux descended listlessly
    Whirling downwards
    And the haze, pregnant of treason
    Had since long dispersed
    He did not see

    He did not see how the nimbus of change
    Still weak
    Rose slowly
    And lit the legacy of Prometheus
    with jealous conceited light
    Until the heavens were chocked
    In a poisonous creamy palette
    Of languid gleaming pride

    Truth covered his sight mercifully
