Well, it looks like WiFi is the newest target of the environmentalist movement. And this time I actually believe them. An experiment in the Neatherlands recently showed that WiFi and wireless cell signals can damage trees.
What I find particularly encouraging is that this report was based on actual experimental data (with controls, and dependent variables, and everything).

I'm pretty sure that when I go to a big meeting and at a break everyone whips out their Blackberries, that a lot of emails must be passing through me an whizzing around the room. All those attachments can't be doing me any good as they zip through my vital organs, surely.

Sounds like bollocks to me. And of course there's no link to the study, so it is probably just silly jurnaling again.

Well, in looking for that original study (which I just realized is probably in Dutch), I came across this. It looks like the web reaction was a vast over-reaction, but at the same time they're saying the study and results were real, just very preliminary. It looks like this site has a link to a summary of the research (though not in English, so I can't read it). Anyway, here's the reason I don't believe this is complete bull: there are enough details provided that any other researcher could replicate the experiment and, in a couple of months, come up with either repetition or no repetition. What's more, it doesn't even sound like a very expensive experiment.

A 5 year experiment on an ungrateful system that is a tree? Expensive and using a too short time frame.
