I always loved this animation, it's a real reminder of my childhood, and a mini-masterpiece IMHO. I was wondering if anyone here on sp knows of it/has any fond (or other) memories of it, or just simply an appreciation for it? Whatever your thoughts are on it, i would like to hear them.

Oooh yeeaa, the Moomins. Used to watch them a lot when I was younger. But then I grew older, and they stopped airing it... :(

    I think I have a book somewhere to :)

I saw it too. It had a pretty original casting and setting IMHO. But it has been a very long time since I saw one of those.

Yeah it was a book originaly i think. God damn it was good. I've been trying friutlessly to get the animation series on DVD, but it just doesn't exist. I'm not even sure it's out on video. So i signed a petition for it's release on dvd (I found it when i was in google). I for one would give an arm and a leg for it. Definitely a kidney, as I only need one of those anyway.
So my point being...anyone want to sign it?! I'll post a link if there's a bigger response.

I read the books when I was a kid but I never even knew that a cartoon existed.

I think Swedish and Finnish public television worked together with a japanese animation studio and produced a season of Moomin based upon the different books, though that was waaaaaaaay back, liek 1995-97 i believe.

I saw it once or twice, but I was generally too old for it. It came along after I stopped watching kids TV.

Takara, nobody is ever too old for kid's television. It's usually more entertaining than what they make for adults.

The Moomins is a great example, since I only really appreciated it once I grew older.

Couldn't have said it better myself Meatdog, exactly.
So would anyone buy the Moomins if it came out on DVD then?
