I signed a two-year term on iDEN, and I am freaking pissed off, thanks to the lot of GSM additions in my lineup, including the almighty SIERRA VOQ. I have a Fido SIM card, and as soon as I reach the end of my term, I'm jumping back to GSM.

I always thought about unlocking that damned RAZR I got way back. Nothing worked, and I never really understood why... then I realized I own a V3 with V3r firmware... a pain to unlock. Sweeeet. Nothing is ever easy, is it?

Still, after careful studying, I decided to give it a shot. The trick is to ground the test point to put the phone in diagnostic mode in order to access areas of the software needed to do the actual unlocking.

While I don't care much for the RAZR, successfully unlocking it raises it's value, and I could technically pop in my FIDO SIM when I am free of my iDEN chain. As much as I hate the F'ER, it's pocketable and easy to customize... the tradeoff being a HORRIBLE sound quality.

Samsung Hype is also on the list. This one is going to require a specific cable to perform the unlock, but as an added bonus, with the cable I can get rid of the DRM bull<>hit that prevents using ringtones downloaded through a phone uploader, for example. Imagine how pissed off I got when I tried setting an uploaded MP3, and hell, even a FREAKING MIDI, and got a DRM F'N ERROR.

I wouldn't mind using the Hype on FIDO. The keys are a bit too small to my liking, but if I take my time typing, it works fine, and is still quicker than typing on a regular phone.
