[IMG] What happens when/if Bioware and Black Isle stop making D&D CRPGS??? Will SP just continue at a stalemate till everyone gets board of the old classics?... I'm hoping this isn't anytime soon but what's after IWD2 that's worth it? The next PoR...
I've heard rumours of BG3 but nothing's certain yet...

If it's bored of the old classics you mean, I don't think you should be worried about that. We'll probably never get bored.

And a Planescape II could be something to hope for...

Don't worry, BIS has the FR licence for 3 more years and I hear they're going to use it. NWN's going to get an expansion in the near future as well... No worries. The games will keep coming. The crap that is PoR also sold more than enough to warrant a sequel.

And i guess, even if they let the license go i'm sure they or some other worthy games company will buy it... that's a relief.

    D&D type games sell (period)

As long as I've had a computer (and that goes back the the Commador 64 games) there has been "Bard's Tale", "Ultima" ... heck, Atari had "Adventure".

Dungeons and Dragons has the most name recognition in this field, so they will always sell well (plus the whole fact that there is already a world & history created, which saves the designers TONS of time)

    The Future is killing Trolls

and the Future looks BRIGHT!

The near future is people looking for the IWD2 expansion pack ... that will never come! (ducking from the wrath of any Black Isle staffers who happen to see this)

I vaguely recall reading somewhere that BIS thought that Expansion packs were rather pointless and prefered to work on full games, so theydoubteed that they would end up making an expansion pack for IWD 2.

Well, it's definitely good to hear that our CRPGs won't be gone anytime soon. Unfortunately, the hack-n-slash styles are becoming popular, so we'll probably be seeing D&D style games like that.

OMG! Lots more hack and slash? How horrible, a whole bunch of Diablo 2 like games! (in other words, the quests involve, kill that person, come back and get reward)
I think if these games died, most likely SP would dissapear or would turn to PnP
